GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Wil Dalton earned preseason Third Team All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball Newspaper as they released their preseason All-America teams on Monday.

Dalton will enter 2019 as one of the nation's top power hitters. Last year, in his first season with the Gators, he ranked second in the SEC in RBI (60) and home runs (19). Dalton also had 18 doubles and 60 runs scored, both ranking in the Top 10 in the league

He has a really quick bat. It isn't all about bulk for hitting a ball hard.

I just wish that he had Langworthy's eye at the plate.

Heck, I wish that every other Gator had Langworthy's eye at the plate.

    Lurk—

Maybe Sully can get Lang to teach Dalton to at least recognize the breaking ball—

Needs to learn to slap it oppo (too).

In the last O&B scrimmage game, There was one batter that blue manager Dyson had the infield “shift” on, ....don’t think it was Dalton?...but he’d be a candidate for that. ( Maybe @gatorjjh remembers? Was it Wil? ...Might have been McConnell? )

With everything we would like to have happen this year for our Gators IF we could take the main emphasis of this thread and somehow convert what @GatorLurker and @gatorbogey brought up—Dalton develop a better eye at the plate with patience to not chase and crush mistakes along with converting half of his K’s into “oppo” rips—

Then besides hearing “His name————is Dalton, I thought he’d be taller, and Pain don’t hurt”—

We could add—“Get some!, and Coming In Hot!”....:ninja3:

But chicks and scouts love the long ball.

And it makes careers for pitchers to pitch to them.

Dalton has to know what the scouting report is on him....and how hw is likely going to be pitched. It’s a blessing, I supposed to “know” such things, or have a sense about it. Now, it’s up to our “batting coach” ( who is that?! ;) ) and Wil to prepare for such inevitability.....

    Yep—back to basics—

    Middle in, fine—turn on it—

Middle away, let it travel, hit it deep on the plate—wear the right side out—

Less strikeouts and put the ball more into play.

We have seen some of our guys had that issue the first year and then the second year completely clean that up the following year. It seems like India had that same issue but last year he obviously did not have that issue.

Maybe take your stance an inch or two further from the plate as well?
