As I posted plenty of times, everyone should have stocked up on their alcohol of choice during the off-season. If you didn't take my advice, well shame on you. Now you have to pay full price for the stuff...
You have to be frickin Tom Brady to have success in this offense at this level. Add to the fact we have a once fired OC as a HC calling the plays. Any QB would struggle. Napier doesn't know how to use his personnel to get the maximum success rate on the field. DJ looked like AR did a few years back when he played Kentucky. Stoops was reading Napier's mail on every play, hence AR publicly stated his confidence was shot. That's not all on AR folks. Billy Napier was a big reason his confidence was shot. When acting out any objective, and the person pushing the buttons don't know what they're doing, (Napier), anyone would lose confidence. This is the state of Florida. Our recruiting footprint is predicated upon having athletes built for the spread. Our roster is built for the spread. Yet Billy Napier has posters of Kirk Ferentz on his bedroom wall
We were just ho hum taking our time, letting the play clock tick down to like 3....just an embarrassing Pop Warner experiment that should've ended last year. The turnaround last year is accredited to the players, not Billy Napier. If the players had not suggested change, he would've still tried to push that square peg in that circle
...When he was asked by the sideline reporter about the holding call that nullified the beautiful TD play, all he could muster up for an answer was something to the effect that penalties are part of the game....so tired of his lack of fire and passion. somebody please help him find a moving company and fast!!
It really doesn’t matter if it was in fact raised last year, if UF can’t raise a 20 million dollar payout (plus assistant coaches) along with the necessary funds for a new coaching staff UF is in deep trouble. It’s possible the administration won’t do it because the fund raising is focused elsewhere, but it absolutely should be doable, our supposed little sisters of the poor did it with Willie Taggart (17 for Taggart and 3 to Oregon) and paid an additional 8.5 million for Ace Atkins et al.
This cannot be repeated enough. It is like a soldier going into battle behind an incompetent general. Leads to defeat before even engaging
Yeah this… there definitely was post here and in the news telling us that boosters had pledged the funds. That it was only a matter of timing. Had to be after game four otherwise players would quit to redshirt. Every week there was an excuse why the firing didn’t happen yet but it was going to soon
If this is truly what the powers at UF desire, why the big contracts to the head coach? They could certainly achieve this while paying less.
Lets say you are the AD making 2 mil a year. The pressure is on to build a successful fb program. You do everything in your power to do so....at least you think you are. Maybe your effort is not good enough. Maybe you got fooled. Maybe you are not very good at solving problems.
LSU has a poor offense right now. Wait until we see the scores against some teams like Miami and Tennessee. Then we’ll be really unhappy.
Curious to know what type of hit on nil money would one take if you take a redshirt? I don’t hear of redshirt seasons as much as I used to.
If they want to do stadium renovations that cost millions and result in reduced seating, they are helping their cause. Crap football product will cause people to quit buying expensive season tickets along with very expensive booster contribution required of season ticket holders. They think that others will pick up the slack and maybe they will. But continued crappy production will continue the cycle of fans giving up. And to think the just extended SS contract with a big golden parachute.
totally agree. Adding to this… a good coach will adapt to his personnel. Figure out what they are good with and craft things around that. Something Napier doesn’t do. He has a system and believes it will work and sticks to it. for example…AR played in a spread offense under Mullen. Spread offense spreads the field with quick easy reads. Napier offense uses a play action / turn your back to the defense for play action which requires reading the defense pre snap but then having to “re-see” the defense after turning your back for the play action. AR had never done this and struggled with it. A good coach will likely either scrap what a qb is bad at. On one occasion, Napier did scrap his system for something to help his qb - at Tennessee in Napiers first year. He went spread and dumped the pistol formation and turning the back for the play action. And AR thrived. but…it was more important for Napier to establish his offense in 2022 than to win games. AR was gonna leave so why not adjust to make the qb comfortable. Install his system. same thing with DJ. His skill set in high school was a wide open spread system. He has missed spring and fall practice and is struggling big time. Why not design plays he is confident in? Put 4 WRs (no tight ends included) and spread them wide. Make the defense spread out. This opens running lanes but most importantly it opens up easier passing lanes - that is how Mike Leach and air raid offenses could move the ball vs superior teams. The decisions on where to go with the ball are super easy and guys are wide open. Long term - not a solution but the coach should be adjusting to the personnel. Do something different. Russ Calloway came from an air raid system so we have knowledge on staff.
This is approaching the absurd. Four years into it, a losing record and still losing. Can’t beat schools with significantly less resources, can’t win on the road, can’t develop a quarterback, can’t perform basic time management, can’t have an offense ranked better than 71st, can’t have a defense that finishes in the top half of the SEC. What else am I missing?
