If they arent loyal to their brothers, so be it. I think most would rather play a season out than sit around, that says something about a player. One more game and the shirts are all burned too. I think most will stay and see who this new coach is and evaluate this.
One minute of genital torture...Meh...lets see if those could survive 4 years of watching a BN coached offense....doubtful.
Yeah, I was thinking Miami would probably be a two touchdown favorite after last nights debacle, so I was surprised by the 7.5.
You can make a statement and do the correct thing without stepping on your own dork. Dismissing a coach for something other than cause and risking not having enough players to complete the season and be forced to forfeit games would be the ultimate laughing stock decision that would be "fire for cause" worthy.
It's what the UAA has been doing for years ....to show they are doing something when they are really not. That's how you get a string of meh coaches that do not pan out. What does pan out is that the revenue stream is maintained or enhanced briefly at each change. Does anybody remember the emails that went out when we hired Napier requesting donations to help "build something special with Napier's process?" My stupid self sent in money. Of course I had no inkling that college football was soon to devolve into a professional sports. Never again. All of my future donations will go to the academic side of UF.
My take is this. Billy tried to bring the football program up to speed with teams like Georgia Bama Clemson etc by hiring an army of personnel and all of us were giddy and bragging about Napiers Army! Then when all the investment did not payoff We were told it takes time! Well before the portal era and the nil era it did take time a couple of recruiting classes if they were top notch recruiting classes. But now if a university has the MONEY they can build a successful team each year as long as the MONEY holds out. So why is the Gator football team groveling in mediocrity and in less than expectations? In my book we should be playing for an SEC championship or a natty every year but we aren’t and we should be! Every University is buying players but us some bought 50 some buy 50 every year but not our university we only bought six! Our Oline was supposed to be the best Oline in the last few years we have a running back room that is the envy of college football yet we can’t or don’t run the Baugh! We are told we have a great qb room but they don’t seem to command the offense or throw the ball more than five yards down the field! It is time to fish or cut bait! Let’s spend some MONEY and buy a team and buy a coach that knows how to coach football and get on with winning championships! It only takes MONEY!
Not what he has said. What he has stated is that there is considerable expense involved and it's not as simple as just firing a coach. Doing it in season means the added expense of promoting someone to the head coach position while paying Napier not to do the job. Who on the staff are you promoting and giving a multi-million dollar raise to? Head coach has a lot of other off the field responsibilities. Firing Napier means paying for Napier and all of the current staff salaries. The next guy will be bringing their own coaches with them so you have to pay everyone involved with that change.
Napier is an awesome program building coach but he's a sucky OC; it's why he was fired by Dabo. If only he would relinquish his playcalling duties last year, the program would be almost there. Instead, he took it back a decade.
Just the facts. https://www.gatorcountry.com/feature/comparing-billy-napiers-record-so-far-against-his-peers/
Money, the right coach, and some luck. Manning is stinking it up in Texas. They have mostly done it right but its still not easy.
There is also throwing down the middle late in a play ( e.g. no one open initially, qb scrambles, then throws a pass). Generally a no no to throw down the middle late in a play as it can lead to pick offs.
You just don't understand offensive football. We have to give our TEs time to shift for no reason and EWIII time to run a fake jet sweep that no one is fooled by.
Does anyone know of a former Clemson Offensive Coordinator that was fired by Dabo at Clemson for lack of play design?
Someone might want to tell Billy that the clock does not stop on 4 yard sideline passes that then go out of bounds until there are 2 minutes or less in the half.
