It was HUGE! Well, maybe it was closer to alright. But I am a guy and you know how guys are prone to exaggerate about size.
All I know is around the beginning of the game the cameras were showing the entire north end zone and it looked like it was Covid protocoling: a bunch of sparsely populated cardboard cutouts. I did not see whether they were late arrivers or they just moved to the sides because they could.
The cameras toward the end of the 3rd quarter showed an empty student section and empty end zones. Not sure what it was like for those that were there, but looked empty. Of course Noon in Gville was likely hot and a boring game for most part.
It filled in a bit from the start of the game, typical of a noon game there were a good number of people who showed up late (and then some noticeable blocks of students left early). It certainly wasn’t full full, but it wasn’t a terrible turnout once the stands filled in.
It was actually a surprisingly good crowd. As with homecoming games, lots got there later and lots left early. It wasn't what the Doom and gloomers thought it would be.
since 2010 we have only average 73-74% tickets actually scanned for entrance had friend who drove up with no tix yesterday and bought 4 in section 13 for less than face value
There were several events throughout the state too. I watched the game at Twin Peaks in Orlando on my way to Earthday Birthday 27. Kiss was playing in Tampa. Then all the fall festivals are starting. I'm guessing fans have decided on doing some life stuff instead of watching a non hungry football team
The attendance this year is actually the only thing that has been better compared to the season that was pre-covid or 2019.
I was there and the crowd was pretty decent in my opinion, the stadium filled in nicely during the first half had to be at least 60k. I was impressed considering it was Vandy.
It was a decent size crowd by the middle of the 1st quarter considering the circumstances. I don't recall it being announced, but the box score says 86,258. It probably wasn't too far off. Maybe low to mid 80s.
86K reported. Florida Vanderbilt 2021 Football Postgame Notes (PDF) - Florida Gators I would have guessed about 75-78K from appearances. It was hot enough at noon that you never saw that many in their seats. People were hovering in the tunnels in the shade, and, many left early when the game separated. The lines at the concession stands were hardly moving all afternoon. Something needs to be done about that. Overall, a decent crowd for a game against Vandy after a crushing loss to UK. Student section still populates late, but, it fills in much better than it has in recent years.
This percentage will rise when they complete the upcoming renovations and reduce capacity. The Reno will include chair backs in the lower bowl and wider aisles. Will be interesting to see the new capacity
This, shared a photo of the student section at some point in the 2nd quarter, way better than most of us probably would have expected. It definitely thinned out late in the game. Upper NEZ and Touchdown Terrace looked a little light, some in the upper SEZ as well. But far better than what I was anticipating. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
