I'm no baseball historian. Has a major league team ever honored Abbott & Costello by coming out in uniforms with the first baseman wearing Who, the second wearing What, etc...
Just thought it would be a classic thing to do every so often.

    And the answer is .....
Hard to image Derek Jeter wearing a shirt that says "I Don't Give A Darn".

Somewhere to the right of Why and Because, unless he's a liberal.

At @WESGATORS’s alumni wiffleball tournament, I’m not sure they issued jerseys , but the names were certainly uttered!

I didn't play it, but I heard about it back in the day. I think they had a different name for it, but I can't remember it.

BTW, the right fielder was not named in the skit. The name "Nobody" has been used after the fact.

By the way, the entire script is online here. It is an amazing piece of writing and had to be incredibly hard to perform.

I think that I was about eight years old when I first saw it on TV. My dad told to to pay attention as it was going to be very funny.

At eight years old that was one of the last things that my dad told me that was correct until he somehow got smarter when I hit my mid-20's.

To paraphrase Will Rogers, it is amazing how much parents learn during their children's adolescence.

Brilliant, I showed the bit to my son when I first saw this thread yesterday. He got a kick out of it (Who wouldn't, right? The first baseman? nevermind).

I remember my dad first introducing it to me, although it might have been via cassette tape if I remember correctly. Outstanding comments on the parenting Lurker/Lake, my dad also used to say "you know, I was your age once."

Uniforms are not uncommon these days, we've had former college baseball players and even a former minor leaguer participate. And people take it serious enough to get hot over marginal calls late in the tournament. :D

Well apparently no one has heard of a team going with the Who's On First naming idea. Imagine if they did it at a pre-season game for fun or even better an All Star game. Yeah I know the All Star game is too prestigious for that level but it would be an homage to the days past.

I’d love them to play it on the scoreboard/ videoboard when the opposing coach comes to the mound for a conference....

Now that would be a great idea to see at the Mac. Maybe @gatorjjh or @Gatorgal04 can pass along the idea to the video folks. I really like this one Bogey!!!

When I got my dad drunk he told me some $h1t that was way worse than anything I ever did. LOL.

When drunk he also then told me about WWII and being in China. I understand why he never talked about it sober.

my Dad talked to me about Germany WW II one afternoon, sober and never mentioned it again... horrific stuff, I understood after that why he kept it to himself the earned the Greatest Generation designation with blood & courage & selflessness..

I’m with both of you on this point—as I have posted before my Dad was a Paratrooper in WWII jumping with the 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team—there were so many things that the Greatest Generation kept to themselves—God bless them all—
