1,800 people died of Covid yesterday. The issue is that we have anchored our expectations of death at a much higher level, so high levels of death are no longer unexpected, so they aren't treated as news.
MSNBC has 4 articles and 1 blog on President Trump. Neither Fox or CNN had an article about him. Fox did have one with Donald Trump Jr. though. MSNBC with a little TDS.
Nothing like a school shooting, a missing/dead white woman, and a faux threat to social media's continuing destruction of privacy and individual thought to restore bliss and harmony in the universe. Guess it's time for a Fauci sighting to get it stirred up again.
I see the CNN has a tab, Fox News has an article, and MSNBC has discovered a color of blue that makes my eyes bleed.
Did you see who threw out the first pitch at the Red Sox game last night? Elderly, recent lung cancer survivor, on oxygen, not a mask in site, surrounded by 40,000 people screaming, Jerry Remy isn't scared of COVID.
Did you actually watch? The guy driving him on a golf cart is wearing a mask. As are the camera people near him. The only person anywhere near him without a mask was his broadcast partner who previously had Covid and has now had a vaccine on top of that.
Looking again you're right the guy on the cart did have a mask. I didn't notice that at the time. I didn't see many people in the stands with a mask on. So I assumed it was a fairly maskless event. I imagine he crossed paths with more than a couple people on his way to the field. I didnt make the comment to put him down, I thought it was awesome he did it. My point was, it's not affecting everyone's lives like the media would like you to believe. I also heard the interview with Fauci where he proclaimed that it was too early to tell if people would be able to gather for the holidays. All I could think was every single stadium in the country and jam packed, and this guy is still telling the public gathering for the holidays may not be a good idea, too early to tell.
Interestingly, the guy in question has often discussed how Covid has affected his life. He locked down in his house for quite a while because of the risk factors.
Yep. They announced, even before they delayed last season, that he wouldn't be in the booth due to Covid last year. He locked down at home. To be fair, it was about a week later that the rest of the world locked down too, but there was a pretty serious concern.
I'd be lying if I said I knew that. Apparently he thought last night was safe for him. Like I said I like seeing it, I thought it was awesome. Back to the original poster it seems like most of us have or are trying to move past COVID being the center of our world. I thought the scene last night showed that.
New Covid cases are way down and current deaths at our hospital have been people who have been here for a while and finally succumbed. What we are no longer seeing are the younger folks in their 30s and 40’s who come in short of breath and go from 4 liters O2 per minute nasal cannula to vent in a couple days. In fact, other than the gentleman we lost in the ICU today I don’t think we have any COVID patients of the 10 or so we currently are treating that we are too concerned about at the moment. Hopefully, with all these new meds coming on line and more people vaxxed and/or post Covid we have seen the worst of it.
Yeah, on the CNN page there is Covid link at the very top, and three more headlines about vaccines Nikki Hailey, Lindsey Graham, and Obama that appear to be at lease loosely related.
There are also two vaccine headlines in the lower right corner of the fox page, and 2 “anti masker” headlines in the lower right corner of MSNBC page. But overall, we are in a down cycle so there is probably not much to report…
