i wish you all good fortune in the wars to come.
Florida Field 1956
I went to that game. Was puking on the ramps of the old Orange Bowl at halftime. Too much Bourbon and coke mixed with all the beer. Recovered nicely by the 3rd quarter. Believe that was Miami's last home loss before they went on their long home winning streak.
Fantastic game for #35. Well done!!!
We're going into overtime to get to 34 as our Gators beat uga 34-31 in 2010. Many will remember that our now DC Todd Grantham did the choke symbol just before Chas Henry drilled the game winner. This was such a great win that Urban said afterwards, "this is the biggest win we've had," Meyer said. "We've had some great wins around here and maybe some people would say more important. I'd probably argue that one. This is the biggest one that I can remember, and I've coached a long time."
Canes have a good roster due to Richt
But hard to be on the money with a new O in the first game. It took us awhile last year and we really didn’t hit the gas until late season
Canes will play hard and the D will be solid but their O won’t be consistent and they will have to score on big plays

There are quite a few players that just came to the Miami through that transfer portal.....
That, along with the fact that it's Diaz's 1st year as a Head Coach, with Tate "Little Man" Martell....
It's going to ba quite a bit harder to get a 1st year team to gel.. whereas Coach Mullen already has his team together, aslide from the O-Line.
But, with savege's conditioning and Hevesy's coachinhg 'em up... they'll quickly work out the early butterflies and do just fine!
Sagrin has a year end rating of recent games which would place UF as an 18 point favorite on neutral turf (O-town will be 80% UF). UM was 7-6 and played only TWO teams in the top 30...and lost both damn games! Hell LSU had them down 33-3 going into the 4th and called it quits. FSU only lost by 1 point to these guys IN MIAMI...and we emptied that dump AWAY in Tally by the mid third...seriously they barely beat Willie Taggart's dumpster fire...think about that one. Then they lost the Pinstripe bowl (everyone knows the Pinstripe bowl right) to Wisconsin (who just lost to mighty Minnesota by 22 the prior game).... by 32....anybody scared now?
Mullen knows he needs to crush them to anchor down UF as the premier team in the state so he wont be coming off the gas even at the end. Count me as someone who is going to enjoy watching a good old fashioned ass beating. This one is going to open up a la Hypatia Lee circa 1976...bet the house on this one.
Not many people noticed this, but right after he kicked the FG, Henry raced down to the Bulldog fans in the end zone and did a Superman pose.
I was at this one. Had just graduated and living in FM. They had a couple chartered buses for both fans to use to get to the game. The Canes fans were very quiet and pretending to be asleep on the trip home, lol.
Was Shottenheimer still our OC then?
Looking forward to being at the stadium in Orlando for a huge beat down of those unfortunate players wearing orange and green, and their nasty fan(s).
Any thoughts about putting a live countdown clock at the top of the page?
33 also involves the leghumpers. The year was 1993 and our Gators prevailed 33-26. Uga appeared to score late, but just before the ball was snapped we called a timeout. Some of the players and definitely the announcers were clueless thinking they had scored. We ended up stopping them and winning the game. Living in Atlanta, the excuse making from their side sure was fun.
In case you hadn't heard how important the New Era Pinstripe Bowl is...well..let me tell you. It is held in a baseball stadium no less. Yankee Stadium. It has NEVER hosted a top 20 team since it began....and yes Miami got a beat down there to end last years dismal season which got their coach canned and their Qbs canned as well. Meanwhile we were handing top 10 Michigan their ass and taking their lunch money at the Peach bowl.
I personally thanked Antone Lott a few years ago for calling time out. He had a huge smile. Really small guy for a CB. But he could play.
That was the game the Great Errict Rhett just kept running and running in the rain and mud. He is one of the Gators 10 greatest, or maybe even in Top 5, RB's of my viewing time (see other thread where I really goofed up).
