Maybe she didn't thank them because she didn't get to know them or build a relationship with them. Mullen and Hevesy visited her at work during Ethan's recruitment. No Ethan present; just visiting mama.

Now, I'm not suggesting Napier and staff did anything wrong here. It's just that Ethan was already on the team and a junior in college so the mom probably wasn't as big a part of the picture at that point. It's quite possible she only thanked Mullen and Hevesy because those are the only coaches she really built a relationship with.
