My wife can forgive me for lots of things. Giving her mother covid is not one of them as it would likely be a death sentence for her. Spent first night in hotel so we could shower, change clothes, and spray luggage and carry on bags with Lysol before we went to her house.

Agreed. When they post things about the virus going away after Trump loses I ask them how the elections will have to be decided in all the other countries where covid is killing so many people. I never get a response. Go figure.

Here's a video to add to the argument. Cheap, crappy and fast testing is the only way out of this thing.

Hiked the Brewer Loop here in town today. Taconite harbor in the foreground. The bridge is between Duluth Harbor / St. Louis River and crosses over to Wisconsin. The bottom of Lake Superior lies beyond the Park Point strip of land and the far land is northern WI. For scale, the freighter in Superior is probably 700-800 ft. Brewer Loop.jpg

I don't think the virus will go away after Trump loses. I think the narrative around the virus and appropriate responses will change. A large segment of the population have been waiting for the world to end since he was elected, and once he's out, there will be change in tone as to how we start to recover from it.

a change in leadership better bring a change in how we approach it. the poor leadership from Trump is a big reason why the US is one of the worst hit countries in the world despite our massive resources

That's a horrible answer and you and others know it. Obama nor his staff is magical or any smarter than Trumps team, Obama would have been in the same shape or most likely worse as Trump because he himself would have followed fauci, unfortunately every president would have made that mistake

Which is exactly what republican politicians want. They are sad people with no interest in doing what is best for the country, otherwise they would have stood up to Trump a long time ago. They would rather stand back and let Trump go down in flames so the Democrats can take the White House, start following practical scientific advice, which will lead to further unprecedented spending. Only then will the Rs be happy when they can stand back and cry about defects and simply oppose everything the new administration wants to accomplish. Pathetic really.

Beautiful shots. I've got to get up to Alaska one day soon. How do you manage file size for posting here? I've got to shrink my files down to around 400kb. Don't know where the cutoff point is.

LOL. Obama was and is much, much, much more intelligent than Trump. Obama's cabinet was more intelligent and competent than Trump's. And unlike Trump, Obama and his cabinet would have actually followed the advice of scientists instead of bungling the handling of the pandemic by hoping it would just go away.

numbers will be too large for them to contact trace. pipe dream that they will be able to control the spread in schools. 4 - 6 weeks max and we will be hearing about teachers, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, etc being hospitalized and/or dying

    4-6 weeks? That’s pretty optimistic...

    https://www.ajc.com/news/atlanta-news/covid-cases-exposure-have-260-gwinnett-school-employees-not-working/RVZP4UFBPFHDNJJ73MNUFIKEPY/

Gwinnett can’t even open on time because teachers are reporting infected. In this debate about teachers/students safety, one thing we hadn’t considered is what about the teachers that don’t social distancing and practice a safe lifestyle away from work?

Obama was smart enough, or not so egotistical, that he used the pandemic playbook left by Bush to help control Sars and then they worked to improve the playbook they left for Trump. Trump, the stable genius, was convinced he knw more than anybody, tossed the playbook, and led the country into a massive fail. How you can believe anything else is incredulous

Nice - I browsed through some of your photos. Great stuff. One of the mountains you shot in Alaska looks volcanic - is that accurate? Also - I noted that you visited Mackinaw, MI. That's a ways from here, but the UP is just a couple hrs away. I've been in the Keweenaw peninsula and through the Sault to Canada, but never down to the lower part of the UP or across the bridge. Did you enjoy that area and did you make it out to the island?

Loved Mackinaw. Pictured Rocks also cool area.. long time ago.. Yes Alaska is on ring of fire so some mountains still have volcanic features. Some volcanoes in Alsska still active.
