Was he talking about deaths or cases? I assumed he was talking about confirmed cases.

Not sure. That is the stuff in the need today driving the dialogue. My reply addresses the deaths disproportionate to the percentage of the population. In Chicago they make up 30% of the population, 50% of the cases and 70% of the deaths.

I’ll speculate on the higher case rate part. White collar workers are almost certainly working from home more than blue collar. That may play a part. Just me speculating.

I believe all Illinois businesses and factories have been on lock down for quite some time. Seems like an extremely disproportionate ratio. Lot of quirks with this virus. That one really stands out.

Could be socio-economic reasons too. I'm pretty well off and work in a white collar job. So does my wife. We have the luxury of working from home, and we could float for quite a while even if we weren't working. There's plenty of food in the house, so we only have to venture out for supplies every 7-10 days. A lot of people at the lower end of the socio-economic scale don't enjoy these same luxuries. If they are lucky enough to still have a job, they're out there everyday risking exposure.

Trump said in his presser that he has been reading on social media that the WHO got it wrong. So, he is defunding. And, so, he confesses his incompetence and then lies. At least he told the truth about where he gets the information that drives his policies.

It is true the WHO was complicit in China's cover-up. Regardless of what Trump says, no need to defend the WHO.

Agree. Though there are several locations around the country that are picking up but NY is in a league of its own.

Trump fell for the same tripe the WHO did lol. And he continued to downplay the virus long after his own people knew better. I'm not really sure how people who defend Trump can go after the WHO with such ferocity. They both failed. At least the WHO didn't remain in denial after it got the correct story.

Not sure why anyone ever believes Trump on anything. His character flaws and terrible leadership are absolute.

The WHO on the other hand might have gotten some things wrong, but to call it *complicit* is just so far off base. I remember the tweet from the WHO (a big mistake) mentioning Chinese researchers suggesting that the virus wasn't being spread between humans. This got a lot of criticism, deservedly because it was a bad tweet.

But their report that the tweet was based on painted a different, more nuanced but def still unclear picture. And if anyone had deigned to read it rather than just react to the tweet, they'd have (or should have) realized this.

See my reply to lawyer above. I think the WHO deserves criticism. But to call it "complicit" is wrong, imo.

Edit: Here's the report from two days before the tweet I mentioned (and mentioned in the nz article you linked to).

Let me ask this too (not just of you maceo), should the WHO not report what the Chinese say that they found, absent pretty much any other information or ability to get more?

Yet it doesn't. Someone should ask the author of the CNN article to read the headline of the data sheet.

It clearly says May. Nowhere on the actual data sheet does it say August for the act of Social Distancing. The data runs through August but the dates headline says May. I mean how can that be argued at that point?

Do you ever take what China says at face value? They make Trump look like a saint. Bastards!

Trump does take what Xi and Putin say as fact. Even over our own intel. community. Just few weeks ago, he thanked XI for his transparency and sent 17 tons of med supplies to China. Figured NYC had plenty?

Excuse me but didn’t he call them out for not being truthful? I’m sure you forgot that. We had to kiss their ass for too long. We need to hold them accountable for their actions. If they had their way we wouldn’t even exist.
