Has anyone checked out England. The herd is spiking cases again.

That said. These drugs can act as a therapeutic for those in the high risk categories.

So many have lost their right mind over this. So glad I live in Florida where for the most part it is like 2019. The main difference is the hysteria that continues to be covered.

It is sad that we can’t have a civil conversation. But it is hard when people literally want to force others to inject themselves with a new drug that is basically a therapeutic if by chance you get the disease.

***somehow this will be labeled as antivax even though it is nothing of the sort***

Are all the vaccinated using monoclonal antibodies free loaders? Have close family friends fully vaccinated who just got the treatment. Glad they got the treatment. I don’t think they are freeloaders for getting the vaccine. And I don’t think they are free loaders for getting the monoclonal treatment.

It is time to stop with the idea that these new drugs are going to get us to some herd immunity. They may act as a therapeutic on route to endemic status. But England is spiking again at a 85% adult vaccination rate. Many areas with extremely high vaccination rates are spiking.

Yeah, I don't understand how the "Science" works. Keep masking everyone when we have zero data showing masks work, but hey lets call that "science". Let's mask kids, because "science". Let's vaccinate kids when there is near zero risk for kids of covid because of "science". Amazing how the "science" in the US is different than the science in most of Europe. You keep playing politics sport.

The reinfection rate is extremely low by all accounts. Here is an article covering reinfections through May 30, 2021 using Public Health England.

Possible cases (using the basic 90 days between positive tests only) it is 0.4%.

Probable cases was 0.01% which are cases where the person popped positive when two different variants were circulating.

Confirmed cases was 0.001% which are cases where actual genetic sequencing was able to determine it was a reinfection.

New national surveillance of possible COVID-19 reinfection, published by PHE

It is baffling that so many refuse to acknowledge natural immunity. I don’t know if it is the propaganda. Or just flat inability to acknowledge something they want to be something else.

The cdc says it is rare. The new york times says it is very rare. The data shows it is extremely rare.

The Maskers and Vax Everyone Crowd are like the flat Earther's. Can't talk to people who don't look at the data but choose to listen to what's spoon fed them.

What's your take on the UK data?

Covid-19 Herd Immunity Proves Elusive in U.K.

A large swath of the country is vaccinated, yet infections are surging after getting rid of most restrictions. The good news is deaths are multiples lower than prior peak presumably due to vaccinations. However the death rate is about 4 times that of France and twice as high as Germany.

Seems to me a very plausible explanation is UK opened up much more than other UK countries.

We don't make people who have had chickenpox get the vaccine; we don't make people who have had the measles get the vaccine. What's different with COVID (other than the vaccine does not appear to be as effective)?

Because almost everyone is vaccinated for measels as a kid, and with chicken pox almost everyone over certain age has natural immunity, and chicken pox vaccine is now part of standard vax battery for kids.

I agree that if you have had Covid and recovered you should be just as good as vaccinated for the most part. However, how are we supposed to trust the same idiots claiming religious exemptions to avoid a civic duty of vaccination that they have the antibodies from infection? It’s a bunch of liars and science deniers. They don’t need vaccines if infected but they are lying their asses off.

Since the Varicella, and the measles vaccine is recommended and very extensively administered at 12 mos of age in this country, this does not would not be a routine occurrence.

this is just scientifically incorrect. there is no debate among 99% of the scientists and doctors. the vaccine does prevent infection in a 65% +/- of the vaccinated. that is proven. that number drops over time, hence the booster.

interesting analysis is how many adults have gotten the shingles vaccine but refuse to get the covid vaccine. I had the pox, in high school, no fun. I got the shingles vaccine as soon as the insurance would cover it.

As far as I know I never had chicken pox, which is unusual for people my age (upper 50s). 20 years ago when we had first child I went and got vaccine because chicken pox in adults is apparently a pretty serious deal.

I kept avoiding the shingles shot because I never had chicken pox. However I finally got it anyway this year after several years of debating with primary care physician. The default medical recommendation position is anybody born before some year was assumed to have gotten it. Given shingles isn't pleasant i figured better safe than sorry.

Guys, go back to the beginning...there's never been a requirement for anybody who has had these diseases to get the vaccines for them. Why not do the same thing with COVID? People ask why some folks are responding differently to this vaccine, this is just one of the answers. There's no consideration being given for folks who have already had it before.
