This isn’t about governors or mayors any more, it’s about people.

Thanks - not sure how I missed Maryland at #2 o_O. As for Republican governors and states with the best vaccination numbers, I'm not sure you want to go down that road.

then why do people continue to reference republican govenors and low vacination rates in their states?

Because almost all the states in the bottom half of vaccination rates are led by Repub governors.

then lets not post is should not be about that when in reality it is in your, and other posters minds. read post 23003 and then stop referencing state leaders party affiliation.

Because people want to defeat this virus. Low vax rates don't help the U.S. citizenry to achieve that end, which is frustrating.

my point is don't say its about people, not state leaders then say it is about republican led states and the need to defeat the vaccine. we all know it is about bashing red states and the leaders, ie DeSantis.

Not bashing, just calling them out for being responsible for lower vax rates which results in more needless pain, suffering and death because they choose to believe the great orange one...who got vaccinated. I bet every one of those governors got vaccinated too

so it is the fault of the govenors if the people in their state, democrats or republicans choose not to get the vaccine?do they get credit for those who did?

Agree that it's about people. If more U.S. citizens understood that the virus tragedy is about people, we would not have more than half a million deaths in the U.S. As for state leaders and DeSantis, maybe you can quote particular posts that you disagree with. Otherwise, your argument lacks content validity. It's not all about DeSantis. There are several states that are underperforming. I'm quite confident that vaccination rates among states would correlate with multiple factors, including intelligence, scholastic achievement, and socio-economics.

yes, but both in positive and negative ways, telling someone they should do something might put them off, like saying you have to get the shot, people from both parties at times do not want to be told what to do.

i was not singling DeSantis out, just pointing out that some use low vaccine rates to imply red states are lacking proper, in their view, leadership.

By the way lowest positive rate since data started being kept, although a good number of states did not report today.

Why should covid be any different than the other myriad of vaccines that are required by the government to protect the public from deadly contagious diseases?

I guess the first thought would be is that no vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 infection is authorized by the FDA.

I think January of 2022 will be very interesting and the entire discussion changes once the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine receives full authorization by Dec 2021.

Judge says employers can require vaccine as condition of employment
Houston Methodist: Judge rules in favor of hospital in lawsuit over mandatory employee Covid-19 vaccinations - CNN

Methodist is trying to do their business of saving lives without giving them ... COVID-19," Hughes wrote in the dismissal of the lawsuit.
"It is a choice made to keep staff, patients, and their families safer. Bridges can freely choose to accept or refuse a COVID-19 vaccine; however if she refuses she will simply need to work somewhere else."
