I gave a pretty honest explanation upthread. No excuses intended. And I can be called a lot of things, but selfish isn't generally one of them.

Takes two to tango and your corona bros were more than happy to dance. That also kept the thread alive.

I am defending his position on the vaccine. Pretty sure I was against school openings in the past and supported our own democratic governor when he closed ours. This thread is a year old. I am commenting on the current discussion. FWIW, he ended up being right about the schools compared to some here though. (Including me btw)

So if one side mentions death totals, the other says "you cant just look at death totals, there are other issues".
Now another side talks about side effects and the other side now says "look at death totals".

The side effects folks worry about are not death. Death is almost a zero for kids either way.

What side effects specifically are you worried about that would be caused by the vaccine but NOT by the virus?

He made a terrible analogy. But hey, I see why you're upset still. You were wrong on lockdowns and school closures, so i can understand your vitriol towards me. It must suck to be constantly reminded of your poor arguments.

Over 600,000 Americans 12-15 received their first shot last week. Will be over 1 million by the end of this weekend. And the reports of negative side effects? I'm hearing crickets.

Millions of American adults, about 60%, have gotten at least one shot. And aside from the small J&J blood clot issue? Not too many negative side effects and most people are fine 48 hours after getting the shot.

Meanwhile, as vaccination rates rise, COVID cases in every state are down. The vaccine is working, for now. What could derail this effort? Not enough people getting vaccinated or worse, a variant that is vaccine resistant.

The race is on, and we're all in this one together.

I promise not to come back in here and rub your nose in it like an obnoxious jackass when it’s shown the vaccine poses even less of a risk to children than adults.

Nope. Not when the death numbers are very very likely to be wrong, just like the child covid hospitalizations. Here we have the CDC saying there isn't any plausible reason for Covid to have killed 64 of the 182 kids last year. So yeah, my guess is those numbers are grossly inflated.

Nope. The vaccine is far safer than getting the virus is for children. You’re wrong.

VAER's is behind so much because their system is overloaded with reports of adverse affects. First time their system as ever been overloaded, but hey, i'm sure that's just a coincidence...

Of course he doesn't have kids. He's the type that wants to give an experimental drug to children who have almost zero risk to covid. When the simple fact is every citizen has had the opportunity to get the vaccine. If they don't want to get it, that's on them. Return to normal life, zero masks, zero school closures. Those who want to take the risks take the risks. It won't overload our medical system, so it's not a big deal. People make choices all the time. I'm making the choice along with millions of other parents of not getting perfectly healthy kids injected with something that isn't fda approved. It's not a hard concept to understand.

I have a 1.5 year old daughter who had covid in February. She got a fever, cough and runny nose from it.

I'd stick her in the arm with the vaccine myself if it was permitted. But I'm not a panty waisted namby pamby who is afraid of the sky falling.

Well good for you. I try not to get in the habit at shaming people about how they should parent. At least not to their face. That’s just me.
