Surprised that no one is talking about this former high school great. Even as a walk on would be a huge pick up for us. Already has offers from other schools. I believe the walk on offers are Florida, LSU, and UCLA and I believe he has offers from Auburn and UCF. Very very good athlete, excellent head, 6'3 and 220. Maybe bigger. Would be a super pick up. Hate to watch him go to Auburn or UCF.

Phillies are paying for his education so a scholarship is not needed. He signed with Mullen out of high school. He’s looking to get into football shape. Would love to see him on board at UF. I hope Mullen is able to bring him to UF. He’s from Florida so that may bode well for the good guys.

Yep, Willie Taggart country at Manatee. Fun to watch play.
Yep, had good relationship with CDM dating back to 2011. Natural leader that others love to play with.

Interesting that UCF and Auburn offered scholarship if Phillies are paying.

Yeah I’m not quite sure what the deal is with Auburn in UCF. I don’t think it will sway his decision. We shall see how it turns out.

There is a difference in what a scholarship player gets versus a walk on, beyond the stipend. Someone else here probably can give a better explanation of how the scholarship does have an extra benefit that could impact Sandberg.

I think that Preferred Walk-ons receive most, if not all of the additional benefits that Scholarship players receive.

You know that Krull originally signed a Baseball Scholarship at Arky and played baseball at CC, just like Pinerio played Soccer, meaning they come in with 3 years of eligibility, speaking of kids who are multiple sport athletes.

That's interesting to me, because I was under the impression that there was differences in such things as meals that a preferred walk on was unable to participate in versus a scholarship player; otherwise it would be an impermissible benefit.

Sandberg wont beat out bo nix at auburn. The kid at ucf is alot of fun to watch. We have issues this year. Hopefully Jalon and emory can snap us out of our funk.

His best bet is possibly ucla. Lsu just picked up joe burrow.

Not sure about Bo Nix. Sandberg has some things in the intangible sense you just can't teach.

He will find his way into a line up somewhere somehow. Might not immediately start but he will get a chance at some point. For those that say "Rusty" with young athletes that work it comes back quickly. Muscle memory is present for a kid that threw spirals since he was young 10,000 times.

Simply put kid is a winner.

Somehow I don’t think qb will be an issue. We need the big uglies

Without question we need big uglies. That being said QB is an issue until it isn’t. Sandberg fits the mold for Mullen. The more competition at the QB position the better. I’d like to see a dogfight for the position rather than someone win the position by default. I feel Sandberg would be a welcome addition.

I’m not saying he isn’t valuable to us but two seasons from now, I think qb won’t be an issue. Mullen always seems to have that covered and this kid may be part of that equation. The two Jones may have that covered for the next few years. Our biggest issue for the past several years has been oline. It’s the hardest unit to fix and with top notch blocking every skill position player looks infinitely better. Without blocking, no one can perform.

No one is denying the O-line needs work. This thread was about Cord Sandberg though. You said the two Jones may have that covered. I’d rather not rely on just may. QB’s are like popcorn. Some pop and some don’t. The more we have to drive the competition the better. That’s why I feel Cord Sandberg would make a great addition. That being said the maybe you can start a big uglies thread. We certainly need them and the big guys can use some love too.

    We

I don't see Sandberg as a kid that stays 4 years anywhere. Then again I could be totally wrong. Not saying that because I think he's 5star but because of age. He will give it a good go for sure. As posters have said he fits Mullen's system very well.

Qb is the most important position but Mullen will get it covered. No worries

Really? have you seen Bo Nix at the opening or any of these camps? the kid look like one of the top three quarterbacks at every camp that I've watched him play. The kid looks like the real deal and Sandberg hasn't played what 17 years?

Anywhere he goes in the SEC the expectation is that he is there as a back up until he can prove otherwise. His road to playing time is easier at UF. Bo Nix does look like a stud. However all QB want to compete and think they can be the guy until they ride the pine for a couple of years.

5 years. Not saying he's Weineke but Weineke seemed to do okay with a 7 year layoff. Lots of things can happen in a year. Sandberg is a man and Nix (although maybe a star)still a kid. Lotta difference between 18 and 23.....
