First, this was my first trip in a few years, so It was my first since the upgrades. Overall I love what they did. (I think the benners seem a bit small.) This was the first time I have brought my wife and our kids down, as their interest is really somewhat recent. Note the solo trips were always much cheaper! They were so excited to get the win...BUT the coolest part for my kids came nearly an hour postgame. My 7 year old got to do the kids layup line after the game....which he loved. The layup line lasted a pretty good while, so my wife and I just let our son stay out there the whole time. My girls who are 11 and 13 have absolutely fallen in love with Gator Hoops. Which living in North Carolina is no small feat on my part. Well about 25 minutes post game they were excited to see Gak walk right past them exiting the locker room. He was a great kid and offered photos and autographs with a big smile. I told them that several players often came that way, and we could wait. So I tool them up to the exit area where the guys often congregate...and my 11 year old saw here fave (Egor) standing their with his parents. They were so excited and he likewise was great. So we needed to hit the road and I told them we needed to get going, and just as we were leaving we looked back to see almost the entire team coming into the lobby....unfortunately this happened just as the door shut. Understandably despite the appeals of my kids the nice security lady said she was of course not allowed to let them back in. They were SO bummed to see Cheese, Allen, Stone, Jalen and Hayes all standing 30 feet away....but unable to meet them. That is until KeVaughn saw my 7 year old staring and came over and let us all in himself. He then told all the other guys to come over and they all did. So my kids very first trip to the O'Dome was made extra special by a great bunch of kids that represented the program with a really cool gesture that they did not have to do. Hayes walked back just ahead of us and conversed with us almost all the way to our car (Track parking lot). For many of us who understand these are just college kids that are pretty accessible on a public campus this isn't the biggest deal, but to kids these guys are rock stars. Bassett and Okauru were incredibly nice kids. Thanked us for coming out. Looking forward to what these guys do in the future. Anyways, GREAT bunch of guys. Accomodating and engaging...albeit pretty tired after a hard fought win. My thread about personality seems true though as they all seem to be almost identical in personality which seems odd. They also seem very close too. Just some perspective on when we get frustrated and forget these are just kids playing a game for our entertainment. My oldest daughter told me that I wasn't allowed to get frustrated with Hayes anymore because he was way to nice to be frustrated at. ...and I agree. Oh...and I introduced them to Mick Hubert, Whom I have met on previous occasions, but they were not as impressed.
