Interesting that in some polls, UCF is ranked ahead of UF and FSU. Here, we see FAU at #17!
I saw UF at #25 in other Athlon rankings. Were those the pre-pre season rankings?
Usually, the Book's composite early odds are pretty true to future reality.
A MASSIVE HOWEVER - when the CROWD changes these, you always, always go with THE CROWD.
It's still absurdly early, and these will change before the season begins, but right now, the CROWD likes the following better than the Books (at bottom are those liked less, including unfortunately, the Gators, but not the Noles):
Bama (5/2 to 7/4)
Clemson (6/1 to 5/1)
Georgia (8/1 to 7/1)
FSU (40/1 to 25/1)
Michigan (10/1 to 12/1)
Oklahoma (18/1 to 20/1) several others, including Florida (60/1 to 100/1)
As I said, it's early, and these are mostly very minor moves (except Bama)
Some of these rankings are updated periodically by the sources during the year.
I see the returning national champions return at 17 this year. Big drop.
All I am looking for is a competent offense. I am not asking for much. Can we just be in the top half of the sec on offense please.
Your wish is granted.

As usual, other than the Top 5-10 teams, Rankings are ALL OVER THE PLACE.
For UCF to be ranked anywhere is absurd. Frost had literally Magical Luck with that team last year. To expect such a thing to have in 2 successive years is extremely unrealistic. Of course, that term pretty well describes the Human Animal's Mind.
Like BYU back in the day, when you play a weak schedule, you will always be ranked

18-1 to win the SEC... if they are correct....
It's just someone's opinion, but it's something to talk about.
Assuming Mississippi State and Florida are both 4-0 on September 29, and IF we are 5-0 on September 30 -- we'll be in the top ten.
I will be ecstatic, and you'll see gazillions jumping back on the Gator Bandwagon.
Not trying to be a wet blanket, but Cowbell State has an underwhelming 4 games before us, so I do not see them being deep in the top 10 to vault us from the 20's at best in the first poll into the top 10 at 5-0. There will be a lot of teams 5-0, and if some top 10 teams drop a game, they will still be ahead of us in the rankings. We will have to demolish MSU and the others, and I don't see that happening.
I feel ya Superman Killer
But Cowbell U will be ranked in the low teens, and we'll be in the high teens
So -- optimistically -- if the stars all align -- it will be enough to vault us into the top ten.
If we can't be optimistic -- with orange n blue vision
We should turn in our Gator badges!

Challenger in the East?
The Gators are a good buy-low candidate for 2018. This program is just a year removed from winning back-to-back East Division titles and lost three of its seven games by eight points or less, including matchups against LSU and South Carolina. New coach Dan Mullen is known for his background on offense, which is good news for a group that averaged only 22.1 points a game in 2017. Mullen won't transform this offense into a high-powered attack in one season, but there should be some improvement. The Gators have a promising set of playmakers at receiver, and Jordan Scarlett's return bolsters a solid backfield. Will Feleipe Franks hold off Kyle Trask and Emory Jones at quarterback? Regardless of how the offense performs, Florida's defense should be good enough to get this team back in the postseason. The Gators own one of the SEC's top defensive backfields and lines, with David Reese poised to push for All-SEC honors at linebacker. The schedule also works in Florida's favor. The Gators won't leave the state of Florida after Oct. 13 and play just three SEC road contests: Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Mississippi State.
