You can interchange him for Chubb if you'd like, but Chubb was almost always the starter.

Updated Vegas Odds to Win 2019 College Football Championship (Feb 27)
    By Tony Finn

Alabama Crimson Tide (13-1 record in 2017-18)
    2019 Championship Odds (7-4)
The Crimson Tide are the most likely to top the preseason college football polls. After their overtime victory choreographed by backup quarterback Tua Tagovailoa the speculation is that Tagovailoa will replace last season’s primary starter Jalen Hurts this upcoming season. Like last offseason ‘Bama will lose their share of talent to the National Football League but the core group that was the strength of the 2018 champions, the defense, returns the best talent and depth in the country. Note defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt left Nick Saban’s staff to become the coach at Tennessee.

Clemson Tigers (12-2 record in 2017-18)
    2019 Championship Odds (5-1)
The Tigers aim to earn a bid in their fourth consecutive College Football Playoff bracket. The offense returns the core of last year’s starters and should be dangerous in a loaded ACC conference. QB Kelly Bryant and RB’s Tavien Foster and Travis Etienne form an explosive unit. Wide receivers Deon Cain and Ray-Ray McCloud, as well, offensive guard Taylor Hearn all depart early for the NFL. The defense is the question mark. The Tigers lose a large number of senior stalwarts.

Georgia Bulldogs (13-2 record in 2017-18)
    2019 Championship Odds (7-1)
The Bulldogs lose offensive bell-cow’s Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. QB Jake Fromm returns but the ‘Dogs’ defense is expected to lose a large share of their top talent to the NFL.

Ohio State (12-2 record in 2017-18)
    2019 Championship Odds (8-1)
QB J.T. Barrett is gone as are many other key players for the Buckeyes. Ohio State will depend on running backs J.K. Dobbins and Mike Weber but are expected to be directed by a first-year signal-caller in Dwayne Haskins. The defense will be anchored by All-American Nick Bosa.

I will be ecstatic if they are right, but if they look at our offense the lat four years (heck, the last 8 years) averaging triple digits, how on Earth do they see us having the 31st ranked offense THIS year? That is wildly optimistic...

Here's Athlon's view of the Gators
    [IMG]
    17. Florida

Projecting the Gators to finish No. 17 might come as a surprise to some, but Florida should get a bump from the addition of new coach Dan Mullen, and there's still plenty of talent in the program. Mullen's arrival is a big boost to an offense that averaged only 22.1 points a game last fall. Mullen has a strong track record of developing quarterbacks and will have his work cut out for him in 2018. Feleipe Franks struggled last season but finished spring as the favorite. However, he's far from secure as the No. 1 quarterback. Sophomore Kyle Trask and true freshman Emory Jones will battle for the job in fall camp. Until a quarterback emerges, look for Mullen to build his offense around a strong stable of running backs, along with an offensive line that returns all five starters from 2017. The line has room to improve after struggling last fall, but similar to the quarterback position, this unit should benefit from a coaching change. The return of Jordan Scarlett bolsters a backfield that already features Lamical Perine, Adarius Lemons and Malik Davis (if healthy). Receivers Tyrie Cleveland and Kadarius Toney are likely to take a step forward in their development, and this unit received a boost with Ole Miss transfer Van Jefferson being granted immediate eligibility. While the offense is a work in progress, the defense has a chance to rank among the best in the SEC. The Gators return six starters, including cornerbacks Marco Wilson, CJ Henderson and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson to anchor the SEC's No. 1 secondary. Edge rusher Cece Jefferson should thrive under new coordinator Todd Grantham. The schedule also is favorable for a quick rebound in Mullen's debut. Florida has only three road SEC games, hosts LSU, Missouri and South Carolina and won't leave its home state after an Oct. 13 matchup at Vanderbilt.

Yup, I think aub has a solid shot this yr. Folks seem to be overlooking them in the bama/ga lovefest. Think they will have something to prove after their late season collapse and lose to NC UCF.

I think it's interesting that Kentucky is rated so low in this Power Index.

Always the same story, THE HAVES WIN and THE HAVE NOTS LOSE (of is that have nuts).

This is as generic and lazy as it gets but that is standard for national publications. I remember in the early 90s reading about how we were going to struggle at wr with the losses of Willie Jackson and others. Meanwhile gator bait magazine was reporting how awesome the young guys were doing in practice. Guys like reidell, ike and maybe quezy. Not sure of the timeline and details but that was basically it. Then the season came and we killed it

The usual suspects with a few minor shifts in location. These things are so incredibly meaningless it almost boggles the mind.

All it really tells you is the opinion of a few sports writers.
Gives you a good idea of how much they know and how professional they are.
