ok... maybe not ever but I lived in Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburgh for over 2 decades and never saw anything like this.

And of course our President just likes to stir up emotions for no reason...

As an ex USAF meteorologist..I proclaim that every year people will say a. This is the hottest I have ever seen here. B. This the coldest winter ever. C. We have never seen so much snow. D. It never floods. E. We have never gone this long without rain. Etc.etc.

And to that I say...Yes you have seen it that hot. Yes it has been that cold. Yes there has been snowier winters. It floods there every year. And there have always been a few days of warmth in the winters too.

Meh. Not impressed. All I had to do was watch a few minutes of TV to discern this cold snap is actually 1. Unusual 2. Nearing or beating records 3. Dangerous 4. Newsworthy.

It gets cold in the winter and everything and I mean everything gets recorded everywhere. This might be a strong cold snap but the hyperbole seems strong with this one.

Actually it depends on if you go outside in it. My brother lives near Milwaukee he is ice fishing today. My sister lives outside of Detroit. She is flying to Vegas today.

It's so cold in Chicago that they started measuring the temperature in Kelvin.

I have a buddy who is a consultant and he was stationed in Regina, Saskatchewan a few years back. Wind chill was something like -47. I asked him how he got anywhere and he said he left his hotel and just ran. lol. Winnipeg is currently -33

60 years ago a rickety old bus with a broken heater was zig-zagging across the Midwest during another dreary and bitterly cold winter, carrying three of its weary young passengers to a sad destiny along with their equally young and luckless pilot on February 3rd, 1959.

The father, son and the Holy Ghost. They caught the last train for the coast. The day, the music died. (In this context, Holy Ghost should be small letters, but my phone won’t let me).

This is a picture of my brother's dashboard yesterday. Ain't no hyperbole here. -24 is freaking cold. No way to overstate it. Those of us who have/do live in it need no explanation.

The local weather report I stopped listening to when it became obvious that they were trying to scare you to stay tuned. My weather app does a better job without most of the hyperbole.

I think all local news just trys to scare you into staying tuned thru the commercial break. Crime reports are close to fiction.
