It seems entirely unlikely to me than Mnuchin would commit a crime in destroying records to cover up for Trump's lawyer's side deals. He can't do it himself, he would have to go through people in his organization who know he is acting outside of procedure and could very well leak that fact. So what is so compelling about these transactions that would make him want to do that? He would effectively be trying to protect Cohen and not Trump, so what interest would he have in going to jail for that guy? Even if it was a request from Trump, would you do that if you were in his shoes?

Now hold on just a minute there, Mister Minister.

™?? You are trying to trademark, "Drumpf is finally finished, and this time it's for real"?

Well excuse me, but that sounds suspiciously similar to my catchphrase to that effect, "This'll be the end of Drumph this time, for SURE," which has been in use by me on this forum at least as far back as Dec. 13, 2017.

I shall see you in COURT, my good sir!

To make our impending legal battle fair, I propose that as our dueling pieces we each retain counsel who graduated from Cooley Law School.

Depends on how many people it takes. Theoretically, it would only take two people, not some grand conspiracy. One guy to give the order, another individual with that access level in the IT/financial system to do the deed.

Obviously there are supposed to be "checks and balances" in any system, but I've seen them broken first hand at the corporate level (hell, I've worked for companies that gave *me* "super-user" status in their financial system, which basically meant that my total access to all areas was completely against the normal segregation of duties that accounting controls would require). I would think the govt would be less likely to break this due to "red tape", whereas a corporation/business is more likely to cut corners . But you never know, some of the "red tape" to do such actions may have been cut out by this administration.

The same reason why she is never linked to any sex scandals?

    *shudder*

People are afraid she has written their suicide letter.

There will never be a movie about this administration, no matter how wilder it gets. Who in the world could make a movie about all this and have it make a lick of sense? An audience would be completely lost.

Kinda feels like something Seth Rogan could make a run at.

He could probably make a sequel to Sausage Party that would perfectly capture this crew. :D

Super user is a typical function that allows you to see information though, not get rid of it. You can't delete an accounting record, only cancel it and there is a trail in the system. You would have to do that through the back end to erase it entirely.

You are completely ignoring the likelihood issue though. To use your accounting example, if you were the IT guy and the CFO came to you and asked you to create a payment transaction through the backend without a user ID to send $100K to a lady named Rainy Michaels, would you be likely to do it? You know it's likely assisting in embezzlement and outside the procedures of the company. You are assuming corruption and collusion, but all these people have a self interest motive. If they are going to break the law and put themselves at risk, then it must be important to them. If they are going to be asked to break the law, then the underlying information they are suppressing must be fairly damaging. If the other transactions are payments for consulting arrangements for Cohen, then they are only damaging to Cohen really.

I tend to be very skeptical about conspiracy theories, especially when there is a huge open ended motive question. It made sense that Nixon's people were conspiring to cover up Watergate because we had an actual crime that we knew about. In this case any crimes would be Cohen's to deal with. The FBI/Mueller would be interested because the charges might be leveraged for information on his dealings with Trump. But secondarily you need to consider loyalty. If there was some significant reason for the administration to want to hide this stuff, how likely would Mnuchin be to risk jail and the remainder of his career to cover it up? Is he a true Trump believer? I don't think so.

Trump paying a porn star to keep her mouth shut about anything is not illegal. He could pay her in crisp $1 bills and it is still legal.

That is what I don't get about this whole thing. Linking Cohen's potential illegal acts with THIS specific act is an attempt to muddy the waters similar to attempts to state Russia interfered with out 2016 election (like they have ignored the other 10-15 elections in the past 50 years) and then sliding in COLLUSION!!! like they two are the same.

Its not and its dishonest debate.

Paying her probably wasn't illegal. Failing to report the payments may very well be.

Well one of her records did get leaked. This is when Slick Willie was first starting out and was struggling financially, so Hillary had to earn money on the side by performing under a stage name as part of a country music sisters act in Arkansas:
