Coffee Drinking Tied to Beneficial Brain Changes - WebMD

I don't put much into any of these articles. Basically moderation is almost always the best method.

6 or more cups? I mean, you might have some other more immediate problems if that's your daily consumption level.

Yeah, you have to take them with much caution. I can accept that heavy coffee consumption can cause problems, but yet moderate consumption found in other studies can be beneficial, which I can also accept...though with some caution either way.

gallons of it in college, now maybe two cups a day....grain of salt on these studies e.g. eggs are either good for you or they are not depending on which week it is.....

I drink about two pots, on a slow day...

Coffee and water are about 85% with Gatorade or Powerade the other 15%.

Yeah, these two studies don't necessarily say different things. One may be looking at moderate consumption and one is pretty excessive, I am not interested enough to dig into the data.

One could also be financed by someone in the coffee industry.

I drink coffee through much of the day, but it's by the sip, not by the cupful. If I pour a full cup, it's cold before I can drink it.

You are being rather wise, I would say. Here’s a great article on the subject.

This is why you shouldn’t believe that exciting new medical study

The problem with these studies is they take existing data, then find linkages and correlations. Then they try to correct for other factors, but it is very difficult to correct for all other potential factors.

They can be informative as to areas for additional studies, but they are hardly conclusive.

That said 6 cups is a lot. It could be an indication of somebody who is sleep deprived, and lack of sleep does play a negative health role. Did they fully correct for different sleeping habits? If so, what does that mean? It seems unlikely that a person who drinks 6 cups of coffee can have the same sleep habits as someone who drinks none, and be the same in all other respects.

Also, sometimes after you do all of the correcting / adjusting your relevant sample size becomes fairly small.

That’s a lot of coffee. I’ll sometimes drink 2. Maybe 3 on a crazy day.

Depends on what they consider a cup. Sure I have 2 to 3 cups a day but my cups are probably each 2 to 3 servings each. I do drink it black though which helps
