Anyone know what is up with these guys? All 3 were highly rated and looked like they could contribute early.
Black is 2021 if all goes well Hammond the same but idk if we'll still be on him Wilson should be back in the spring if all goes according to plan
Can’t wait to see what black brings. I’m surprised we haven’t seen more hopper as mediocre as our lb play has been
Black is almost the same size as Bogle and brings equal or even superior athleticism to the table (this year Bogle has 16 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 2 tackles for loss & 1 pd) despite playing at a very deep position. Wilson, being from the Islands, had visa trouble, which was finally cleared up this fall, so he's enrolling for spring.
Yes he has been in a couple games but he will be a redshirt. Like you said he is a bit undersized right now so a year with Savage should do good for him.
Black has played Safety mostly in Juco as well. Will interesting to see if he stays at safety or moves to linebacker.
My guess would be he moves back to OLB, but with our lack of depth at safety you never know. Our front seven for the next couple years could be scary good. Diabate, Cox, Black, Bogle, Hopper, Burney, Carter, etc. Not to mention our depth is getting much better. I would really love see UF land a JUCO O-Lineman or two!
haha those are the ones that just came to mind, but hopefully Slaton and Campbell can make some noise next year and groom some of the younger Freshman coming in. (Dexter, Goods, Brown, possibly Tim Smith) Possibly add a JUCO D-Lineman as well or Grad transer.
Conliffe will be back from injury as well but not sure how good he really is. The DT position has been a concern. And too bad Slaton would not consider moving back to the oline.
He has superior athleticism; however, the only knock on him was speed, which can change over time, but I expect he will be LB. A future with the athleticism at LB of Burney, Hopper, Wingo, Black, Bogle, and Diabate (maybe Summerall) is something I am not sure we have ever seen at Florida.
IMO Conliffe was our second best DT after Shuler entering the season. Fortunately Campbell has played well and Slaton has stepped up somewhat.
W hile our inside dline hasn’t been stellar, they haven’t really given up a lot this year either. They did a decent job against Auburn, LSU, and Swift didn’t exact have a career day either. We have some talent coming in too. While it hasn’t been an overflow of talent like the wrs, it hasn’t been too bad either. The oline has been a different story. We had a decent class last year and hopefully a few more this year. Should be better next year and 21 should be a strength if last years class pans out.
Those are a lot of highly touted guys we will see how they translate on the field the next couple years. The defense could be great in the future.
