I’m pretty sure there is a national charging standard that automakers are adopting… from what I understand, they are all adopting Tesla’s format… it wouldn’t make sense for there not to be

Makes sense. BYD used to partner with Tesla in China, so I am sure that most of the technology is "inappropriately appropriated", dated Tesla technology.

I'm sure they are. As are we. But there's subsidizing, then there's subsidizing.

Trade needs to be free. Take the subsidies away from cars from both companies and compete freely. Unfortunaetly it would take a team of economists to figure that out and they would never agree on a final number.

I would expect the conservatives and libertarians to be all for this. Leave the government out of it and let me make my own decisions.

That’s what countervailing duties are for and the WTO specifically allows for it. In the US there is a formal process through the department of commerce. In fact the US just levied CVDs on China for aluminum extrusions.

Sure, leave it up to the oligopolies. They'll do the right thing and sacrifice short term profit for the long term good of humanity, like how they pivoted away from fossil fuels decades ago and saved us from global warming.

I suspect if we sat down with most people, we'd find many more areas of agreement than not. On these forums, we are speaking as cult members, but one-on-one much less so, don't you think?

You think the price of something always represents its true cost. Some of us aren't that gullible.
