I ain't gonna lie. I love this kid and could not have been more wrong about him as a player 2 years ago. I didn't think he was an SEC-level player and now he's in contention for SEC POY. For a kid that checks off very few boxes in terms of size/athleticism to improve as much as he has is a testament to his heart, toughness, and basketball IQ.

He is the poster child for staying 4 years. Do you thinking battling Hill in practice for 3 years helped him?

Great article- Cheez is everything right with college athletics.

On a side note, I'd be interested to see our possessions with and without Cheez this year.
I know at USCe we could not even get off a shot without him in the lineup. We looked lost.

He deserves a landslide SEC POY.

That last part is frustrating. KeVaughn is taking the minutes as the relief point guard but he is too indecisive in that role. Okauru was recruited primarily as a point guard but seems to lack confidence, and Mike White's faith, at that position at least for this season.

I would pump the breaks on POY until we see how he does in the Bama rematch. Colin Sexton is also in the POY conversation and Cheese had his worst game vs. Bama (his only bad game in league play, really). I'm not saying we need to win that game, necessarily, but Cheese has to have a pretty good game at the very least.

And a reminder that not every player is fully formed when they step onto campus. Sometimes we have to wait in order to see their true nature. We need to have patience.

UF basketball fans patient? Yeah, right.

I'm repeating myself and I know that many of you don't buy it, but Cheeze was really good and should have started from the first day that he set foot on campus. Cheeze didn't start getting the key point guard minutes for the gators until sometime in the 2nd half of last season. From that point on, he has been the best player on this team. It's nice to think that he made a huge leap forward as a player from his junior to senior season, but IMO it's the opportunity finally given him that has turned him into a star.
