The bend but don't break made me nervous as hell back in the day but it seemed like we always made a big play when needed. Also, CS had a lot to do with UM s first NC. He talked UM into punting instead of going for it on 4th down against Arkansas in the SECCG when Arky muffed the punt which swung the momentum

It was because of a birthday party for one of the Lakeland (a non-contributor) players on the team... but yes there was NO oversight of the team/defense that week before the Bama game that Carlos Dunlap got arrested. NOT Strong's fault.

I thought it was Strong who told Urbs to keep Moss in on the FG block team against USCe.

“Urban Meyer had called time out and I wanted to pull Moss from the game and put Derrick Harvey in because he was so tired and just dripping sweat all over the place. But he told me he was going to block it so I left him in. As soon as they went back on the field, I just started walking to the other end because I didn’t want to watch.

“Urban came on the headset and mentioned he had another timeout. I said, ‘Naw, let’s get it over with.’ And then I told him, ‘Old Steve got us again didn’t he?’ And I just watched the crowd in the south end zone. That’s how I knew. I couldn’t look.” — Then UF defensive coordinator Charlie Strong.

Why are y'all talking of Grantham leaving? Sure one day he may leave but stop pushing the envelope for Gods sake.

As it turns out, I don't think Charlie will come here after all. He may be getting some interest from the ESPN's of the world and even the NFL. If true, too bad bc I think he would have been a good analyst and asset to our program. But good for him if he can land somewhere in the League. It needs guys like him.

HE is the one that keeps being a candidate and almost left last year and was 2nd in line for MSU this year. The talk is based on reality.

Going by recent history, I trust Mullen to improve the staff quality with a new DC if CTG were to leave.

He is becoming a guy that good coaches will want to be associated with. THAT is a huge key to long term success (See Saban).

He could be an analyst at UF or Bama? If he chose Bama over UF maybe some of us will stop the love fest.
