It will all depend on the visit. UF will have to wow.
Hard to wow with our facilities, but I'd think they'd be better than Moo U's.
Let me try. I get our DT have been underwhelming this year but what we have coming in with future years is hardly lacking. The evidence would show...
2019 - Jalen Humpheries (okay I'll give you this one year but we might still sign 1-2 DL more)
2020 - Gervon Dexter 4* DT, Kerdrick Bingley-Jones 4* SDE, Josh Griffis 3* WDE - IMG (Already 3 DL and we have another year to go)
2021 - Bryce Langston 5* WDE #4 in the nation, Tyreak Sapp 4* SDE Top 100 player (And yes we still have 2 years to go)
I do look for improvement in our DT this year with most all returning and with size. Hopefully another off year will help build strength and some speed. If DE Zuniga decides to stay that will also boost the entire DL performance for next year. Side note: I've seen Langston and even though his weight says 212 he has very wide shoulders for a sophomore and looks very muscular. He could be a real handful by the time he gets here.
Malik Langham supposedly is moving inside next year, he came in at 280+ out of HS and could easily be 300+ next season. We have a lot of DTs coming back, none of them have really stood out but both starters return (Campbell, Shuler) and there's good depth (Conliffe, Slaton, Dunlap, Langham, Humphries, ??).
Thanks for the post. We'll survive and UF will still have a football team. I get all that. But show me a season Bama, uga, LSU, fsu have missed two seasons in a row at DL. We saw what developed on the OL with Muschampesque recruiting and even though our staff is light universes ahead of the Muschamp era as a staff the numbers don't lie. I can live with last cycle's one DL but not 3-4 DL over two seasons is going to be a problem. And now is also a good time for someone to remind me how incredible Coach Mullen is at attracting transfers, as if those have not been unusual and likely unsustainable series of good fortune.
Wonder if Lang is going to stay at TE now that Pitts has moved to WR? At one point I heard he was going go move to DE. I like Gamble and Krull at TE, but that's it other than Zipperer.
I am sure that Lang will be DE, but will he have an impact?
He was quite the athlete coming out of HS.
Just decommitted for MSU.
Pretty sure we're a longshot here, no?
He's visiting this weekend.
Just got a CB to Auburn too. His de-commitment letter was about preparing for life after football. Not sure how Auburn helps with that. Have to believe we are real players here
Didn't care for his letter, but I agree that Auburn would seem to have some similar constraints
This is a strange one. Sounds like his letter could mean life with a meaningful degree. Who knows.
I don't know but Auburn is hurting for DL with a capital H.
Interesting that he listed #2 Auburn, #3 Tennessee, #4 LSU, #5 Good Guys earlier on when he picked MSU.
If you were to focus on academics, the choice would be UF from that group.
If you were to focus on life after football, Florida is the largest and most populous State of that group and the one without a State Income Tax, clearly a State most look to reside in post athletic career
If you were to focus on Brand, UF has the strongest National Brand of those programs, in terms of TV viewership and Tim Tebow, Jessie Palmer, Erin Andrews, Rutledge, Chris Collinsworth, Chris Doering, Kevin Carter, Jen Brown, ,,,, Top college Telecommunications/media program of that group. We have had The Batchelor, Dancing With The Stars ball winner, Good Morning America, Sunday Night Football, SEC Network, Fox, ..... That is National Brand
He has been following alot of Alcorn State on twitter which is weird? Grades? Maybe nothing but he has followed some gator stuff too. And MSU fans think Mullen may have gotten to him even if he listed us as #5
Hopefully Dan has gotten to him. If we do not get more SDE types this cycle that can be SDE or grow into DT we are gonna be in the market for grad transfers and JUCO for two years from now. The closer to the ball the longer they take to develop. He will not play significant minutes at UF, Auburn, FSU, etc. next year regardless of what any recruiter tells him.
