Castleton dominated Kessler this year. Game 1 player......pts....rbs...blks...stls...VPS Castleton..22......10....3........0.......1.7 Kessler......6........8.....2........2.......0.9 Game 2 Castleton..19......8......3........2.......1.6 Kessler......11.....3......0........1........1.0
I knew that CC dominated in the head to head, but Kessler was really good in other games so I don't know who has had the better season.
Kessler is projected as a mid-first round pick, too. Castleton is currently projected as undrafted. Crazy.
This. Shows you how much is 1. reputation coming into the season 2. the team you play for Also, Castleton continues to improve in all facets of his game. He is balanced on both ends of the floor Overall I can see how Kessler projects higher, but i don't see his game translating that well to the NBA. Now Jabari Smith on the other hand...
Now just imagine CC if he had the depth at the 5 behind him that Auburn has. I think Kessler has the tools, but he doesn't seem to have the same intensity that CC plays with. Granted I have only watched our two games against Auburn.
Walker Kessler’s triple-double leads Auburn to 75-58 win against Aggies Kessler had a triple double versus TAM the prior week. 7’1” height likely makes him a first rounder. Was at UNC before transferring to Auburn. Amazing thing is that he did not go to UGA. Dad, Uncle and brother all played at UGA. Alec Kessler is Uncle. Both Dad and Uncle were drafted by NBA and both are now orthopedic surgeons.
I believe Alec Kessler played briefly with the Heat and died tragically a while ago from a heart attack at a relatively young age.
Thanks TEK. Just looked up. Tragically died at 40 in a pickup basketball game years ago. Appreciate you passing info along. I remember being impressed how both brothers were drafted by NBA and became orthopedic surgeons, but have not kept up over the years.
CC showed he can hit the midrange, and is more athletic and offensively skilled down low than Kessler
Keep in mind CC played 9 more minutes than Kessler in both games. 33 to 24 in the first and 35 to 26 in the second. He still comes out on top adjusted for minutes and it shows he is more valuable to the team.
Kessler is a good outside shooter at 7’. If CC ,overtime, as he fills out some more can find a consistent 3 point shot, he can have a long professional career. As poster 108 mentioned he has come around on on his mid range shot, Chandler Parsons came to us playing inside and running the court. He evolved over his Florida career and became a long distance shot option for Billy D. Who’s to say if Colin stayed a third year, which probably isn’t go to happen, could start hitting threes with more time to develop his body and shot. Might be good for his career, because the pros will want production. Chandler just retired with his wreck settlement after eight years with three teams. Colin should at least talk with him as to three point shooting.
Colin was supposed to show off his newly improved 3 point shot this year, but it hasn’t been successful. If i recall correctly he hasn’t hit one attempt yet. That is severely impacting his chances of getting drafted.
Well his mid range just came about, another year working on it, who knows. We need him so bad due to lack of bigs, he hasn’t had the luxury of trying the threes without hurting the team. I am glad he sees that.
Written by a friend after the game who is an Auburn grad/fan: "I'm not going to complain about the officiating. That's a normal basketball thing on the road. It almost certainly is not the reason we lost this game. Fact of the matter is that UF straight up beat us. Castleton is the only big in the conference that has had Kessler's number, the only other one that's really outplayed him in a matchup being that Sanogo freak from UConn. Jabari played great. As I've said ad nauseam, our weakness is our guards. No better example of that than the final play of both halves, when Wendell melted."
Yeah. I noticed that as well. I think it's also due to the fact that most of our games have been very close, so there's not a lot of time for him to experiment with the three point shot. As a basketball player, I'm kind of like well how hard is it to hit a three point shot? He has decent form. His attempts have been largely uncontested. I know scrubs who can knock down 2/10 wide open threes. He can't be this bad of a three point shooter. Just needs to hit the first one and open the gates.
