I watched a house burn down one time in a neighborhood near mine. The surprising thing is how it seems like the fire will take a while to do it's job but then the house burns down before you even realize. Incredible how fast things change.

Given our LB play, and overall defensive play, I can’t fault the guy for looking at better options. Also, could be James thinks we’re going to have a different DC and LB coach? Both of which are completely unknown, right now. Sadly, Shemar is probably a goner from our class.

Stuff like this is bound to happen when we start shopping a new coordinator, you take the good with the bad I guess.

He's too small for LB, more safety sized. Neither bama nor UGALY will end up wanting him. UF is the school that takes a safety sized LB and hopes he grows past the point of being a tweener. I'd take the kid, hope he sticks, but won't lose any sleep if he goes elsewhere.

UF needs a high quality MLB, somebody who can make tackles in the middle, call the defensive signals, and run pass coverage with a TE when necessary. I don't see James filling that role.

Yeah, no way we need a top 100 player on our team. I mean, how could he even help us?

According to 247 Shemar James is 6'2" 212lbs. Our starting MLB is 6' 225lbs. Roquan Smith right now is 6'1" 232lbs.

He won't start year 1 at that weight, but after a year in a college strength program he'll be fine.

Now that he backed off his commitment I expect others to do the same. Mullen has to address the recruiting issue and fire Grantham after the season. 4-3 is not the Gator standard.

So we just lost the highest rated commitment in our '22 class? Ho hum, nothing to see here.

Buh Bye. James will be 2 years before he gets on the field. He's just as likely to be a transfer out at UGALY as not.

Yikes. It's not like it's July either. We only have a few months to right the ship. At this point, it looks like the '22 class could be the lowest ranked in Mullen's time at UF. Again, one has to question the trajectory of the program.

When it dawns on you why we are shopping a new DC it’s both disheartening and angering. Someone dropped the ball on us.
