South Florida destroys the 25 rank team, Miami beats the Irish, LSU beat Clemson at Clemson, and Florida State manhandles Alabama, Texas loses close to Ohio State. The rest of the schedule wins all their games. Even if we go 8-4, with this schedule we should be in the playoffs. Nobody has a schedule this rough.
I don’t really care about the playoffs at this point. We gotta start beating good teams more consistently, especially on the road. We get to learn a lot more about this team through September.
This is one more reason I HATE FSU: Florida's schedule / Florida State's schedule: Long Island / Alabama USF / East Texas A&M @LSU / Kent State @Miami / @Virginia Texas / Miami @Texas A&M / Pittsburgh Mississippi State / @Stanford Georgia in Jax / Wake Forest @Kentucky / @Clemson @Ole Miss / Virginia Tech Tennessee / @North Carolina State FSU / @Florida If the Noles don't go undefeated, they shouldn't be allowed in the playoffs, IMO.
Teams opponents before Florida USF extra 2 days to prepare and rest Lsu - LA Tech Miami - USF Texas - Bye ATM - Miss st MSU - Bye UGA - Bye KY- Auburn Ole Miss - Citadel Tennessee - New Mexico st Fsu - NC ST All these byes and late season cupcakes before us. Coincidence? IDK. But it does make our already tough schedule...harder.
I'm relieved we didn't start against a top ten team. Which is another way of saying we ain't made it all the way back yet. On the other hand, the next time I worry about playing a directional school is the first time. I take them serious, as I'm sure our team will, but expect them to be a confidence-building warmup for Death Valley.
F$u beat bama, ScUm beat ND, gotta answer the bell when the big boys show up our schedule. Take care of USF, then LSU, then scUm. Put up or shut up time
If all college football teams had our schedule, life would be perfect... but as it stands now, we seem like one of only a few teams that schedule good OOC games when we can. The SEC and it's fecklessness insures no other SEC has a harder SEC portion of that schedule. It's time for the SEC to go back to the 2 division conference... give back a real schedule that all team can rely on to be honest and fair for all the football teams in our conference. See my 2 Division 3-year cycle SEC Football Schedule suggestion below. https://www.gatorcountry.com/swampgas/threads/my-2-division-3-year-rotation-sec-schedule.642157/
We probably had the toughest road in basketball ball last year. In the toughest conference in history. Just bringing it up because I'm still stunned and will enjoy it forever.
R.F.,....."To be THE MAN, you gotta beat THE MAN,.......Woooooooooooo! They're all 1 at a time..... Every team has to deal with injuries also..... GO GATORS!!!!
To even sniff the playoffs, 1/2 of season we will need to win 2 of 3 from Miami, Texas, LSU.. 2nd half of season we will need to win 2 of 3 from Georgia, Tenn, Ole Miss. The rest of our games maybe we can afford 1 loss. Miami, LSU, Ole Miss, Ky, A&M are all away games. It's going to be a real challenge. If we end up with 2 or 3 losses with this schedule, no doubt we deserve to be in the playoffs.
With NIL and the portal, even traditionally weak teams can show immediate improvement. Just look at f$u. You have to spot the ball and play the schedule you are dealt.
If another fan base were crying this much about the schedule we would be roasting them. It is what it is, spot the ball.
Seriously, I feel like I'm going to read where going 1-11 is ok because the schedule is just so tough.
