Radio just said Mays’ dad got his pinky cut off at a uga ath function a while back and is suing the univ. law suit dropped as of last month. Maybe that’s it

It happened at our End of Year Gala in 2017. Mays and his family were in town for his official visit. The lawsuit was filed last month.

Gotta beat them this year while they are breaking in a new QB and lost a ton on offense.

UGA signed 7 5-stars in 2018. Amazing class.
Of those 7, 3 are gone.
    Fields, Cox and now Mays.

After reading that article I have to give some props to Kirby for thinking up some ingenious ways for a recruit's family to get some serious compensation in return for a signature. I am presuming the school's lawyers didn't go along with his methods.

Georgia appears very, very close to full meltdown mode. I wonder if Smart has already reached his pinnacle. A couple players leaving is normal, but what they have is just about an exodus at this point.

It’s weird, but we should slow our roll on Kirby being done until we beat him

We have 5 leaving early for the draft. Alabama has 6 (so far). We have three in the portal, two were barely seeing the field and the third's family is suing our athletic department.

It's a lot of turnover, but that's why you keep trying to sign these classes we've been hauling in.

Agreed. Him, Thomas and Wilson are huge losses. Fromm too to an extent, although not so much the version of him we got after the WLOCP.

Bigger emotional ouch may be that Fromm happened on the 2 year anniversary of 2nd and 26. I didn’t mind Fromm. Liked his game

The bigger issue with losing Fromm is not so much Fromm himself, it's the uncertainty behind him. As Florida fans can attest after a decade of painful experience with this, there's something to be said for bland competence at quarterback. The fall from competent to awful QB play can be pretty shattering.

Now, you pull in Newman in the transfer portal, that's a different story.

Yeah....what they do to bridge the gap is key. I would assume Newman is target #1, but we aren't the only major program looking for a stop gap QB. But I know there have been feelers out to him and KJ Costello. I would assume everyone is still keeping an eye on the portal to see what D'eriq King is going to do. For 2020 Beck is there, but that's about it with Dwan Mathis still not medically cleared. Getting a good option in the transfer market would go a long way to setting up a legit QB competition in 2021 with Beck, Mathis and the impending assumed commit coming from Brock Vandagriff.

Kirby said his players were diseased.
They gettin portal fever or NFLitis (some are not familiar, it's when a kid declares for the draft in hopes he's a second day pick) in Athens these days.

Doesn't matter if they leave, because they've replaced fsu as the National Champions of Recruiting. Maybe they can give themselves that trophy, because they'll never win the one that matters with Shart.

I can't tell you how much I would love to see a showdown between Trask and King in the WLCP (I refuse to call it "WLOCP" out of quotations until someone proves to me that there is a larger indoor cocktail party). Both would be playing in systems that do not fully compliment their talents, and it would be an amazing Manvel showdown.
