  1. I expect to se a lot of posts in this direction. Some people are letting biases show. This is way more political and cultural than people think.

Not sure how you got political or cultural out of that, but, sure, ride with that.

The way he appears to be handling all this gives me cause to question this assumption.

If JS can do that, then I will take it because he will be leaving it better than he found it an SS will have been fired by then

Has anyone figured out what exactly Turnkey has done for all the money we paid them, if Condron is just gonna be the one to make the hire?

Because of the clown show at the top of our football programme, I at least wanted to watch some some of JS's intro presser at Tulane (Dec 2023).. I thought it might offer a measuring stick for what's inevitably coming next.

Honestly? I must admit came away defined by 'meh'. I want to root for him. I see a good guy, a family man - a humble, hardworking one. But do I see a compelling speaker or a guy who will crush national recruiting? Hmm. More broadly, do I see much to shout about in his coaching resume in terms of premier scalps? (a one TD win over 22nd ranked Memphis is... )

Honestly? I think I'm open to seeing more, but it all screams a guy that is the blueprint for a 'Steady Eddie' hire. To me, it's a huge gamble to conclude he'll be a national championship-level success in the SEC, especially when he's stepping into an fanbase with the highest expectations and a starvation for success based on many back to back failures. It's a huge leap of faith and I can't help but wonder if his stock is so high, not because of his resume but because of the dearth of alternatives pushing his value up.

It's just one presser, granted, but for me it'll be quite the growth to have become a $10m/per SEC Head coach in 24 months.

Feel free to look for yourself:

He did say (earlier in this presser) that the Tulane offense will be "explosive". Certainly an interesting claim. No doubt, he will be a ball-running first kinda coach based on what he said.

He also - for some reason - said this below, which is borderline bat*&^% crazy, but there you go.

    Lots to ponder.

Need an offense that can average at least 31 per game to be competitive in SEC. Can’t trade touchdowns did field goals. Have to score 7 when in red zone. Hopefully next coach has an innovative OC that can do that while playing strong defense and special teams as well

But no one has to support the team financially if they aren’t happy with another very questionable HC hire. I wish Sumrall well obviously and hope he is extremely successful. But I have very tempered expectations and can see alot of things being a struggle for this guy right out of the gate starting with keeping his current top players from hitting the portal and getting other top recruits to come here.

    Cultural maybe.

Basically, do we want to try and maintain a symbalance of the concept of the student athlete (one foot in the old system) or do we just say f-it and become UGA, LSU, OSU, etc.

They only suggest coaches. It's up to MSU Scotty and our version of Jerry Jones to make the call

Where was Golesh in the rankings then? Golesh would have been a better hire
