If he ends up coming here, it’s a money grab. He likely knows he wont last and saw the nice buyout Sunbelt Billy got.

You can bet Sumrall knows and there’s a good chance he won’t take the job.

I had this awful nightmare last night that the gators were planning on hiring another offensively challenged G5 coach …John Sumrall or some such. Woke up, thankfully it wasn’t true. Oh no…

If the recording of our booster having the conversation about how we lost Kiffin is true, then Sumrall has already agreed to come to G’ville.

However, if Sumrall doesn’t end up as our Head Coach, that would mean that we gave up on Kiffin because “we were afraid that if he didn’t sign, while we were under negotiation, Sumrall would sign with Auburn and we’d lose both”, but end up losing both anyway. Which is what we’d fully deserve!

The zook hiring in my opinion was the most polarizing hire I’ve seen…if it’s indeed Napier 2.0 this time, it’s going to make the zook hire look like a genius move…

But it was we who pulled the plug on Kiffin. He didn’t walk from us.

what a big mess. Sumrall should just go ahead and sign with Auburn.

It looks like Lane Kiffin to LSU might happen today.

If down the road LSU/Kiffin is winning big
while we are struggling, the knives will certainly
    be out for Stricklin.

Not good optics for Florida when viewed nationally.
However, let it play out. Maybe we will be OK.

As my fishing buddy says both him and I
are personally in our last quarter,
so I have more more pressing concerns.

Kiffin proves the old adage, when someone tells you it’s not about the money, it’s always about the money. $15 million per…wow. Coaches’ salaries have just shot through the stratosphere. Everything else will go up accordingly to pay for this.

This process has been disasterous and uninspiring. Watching some of that Tulane game last night against a 1-10 Charlotte team, no Gator fan should be amused. USF put 54 on Charlotte and Tulane could barely muster 27 and Tulane's offensive output overall is pretty pathetic.

I knew this would be the reaction as soon as I saw the report last night that he signed with LSU.

You/we don’t know that. By all indications, Kiffin was at least giving equal consideration to coming to Florida until we threatened him then walked away because he wouldn’t give us an answer while he was preparing to actually play a game. Once we did that, he had every right to seek an agreement to go to LSU and if they want to pay him a ridiculous amount of money that’s their problem.

You can say what you want about Kiffin… High maintenance… Cocky, arrogant, and sometimes erratic especially off the field in his younger days…. But the guy is a proven winner over and over. Everywhere he has gone he has been successful. In his head coaching opportunities, the guy has turned around programs and always created a winning product. When you look at our program, we are at a very critical moment where if we had had someone come in Who could make that kind of impact and get us back on track pretty quickly, That would definitely be worth the extra money you’re paying him because you will make it back in ticket, sales merchandise, etc. all the big name five star recruits are gonna wanna come play for a guy like that… On the flipside you can go cheap… Get someone who has done OK at a lower level… Has very little name recognition and who is going to have a hell of a hard time, rebuilding a program like ours….. I think Kiffin was the answer here, I think he wanted to come here, and it would seem like Stricklin Wanted to make it look like we were going to do whatever we needed to to bring in a big-time coach, but in reality he had no intention of signing Kiffin or any other big game coach. This is all about money and control in my opinion. And there are rumors out there that Stricklin just gave himself a big raise…..that needs to be looked into

And as my fishing buddy says you have to fish for the fish where the fish are....we pulled up our lines and moved on while the fish were feeding to fish where we wanted to fish as opposed to where the fish were

you are right. Obviously anything can happen on any given day and sports and an underdog can certainly win or give the other better team a heck of a game. But Tulane really struggled at times offensively and I think they’ve had problems there a good part of the year… But just remember they play a very soft schedule overall. So when you look at things right now, we are hiring this guy, but the bigger question is who is going to be the offensive coordinator and that one person better be one of the best in the league right now or best in the NFL…. That’s where we need the most help

He had 3 teams desperate for his services, of course he got paid. That doesn't mean he didn't also get all the other things he (supposedly) valued more (NIL money commitments, control).
