I just find it humorous when people refer to Oxford as “small.” There is literally one red light in my entire county.

As long as the politicians don’t *%#! it up, state workers have a kickass (am I allowed to say that?) retirement plan. Can’t wait to collect on it :p

West of Denver to Oregon is awesome, the rest not so much imo. Friend took 7 days. I'm more goal directed still. Post college I drove from WPB to San Diego in under 4 days with some sightseeing in New Orleans and Austin, flew thru West Texas. Great memory.

I might be making that drive next year or in 2027. It should take me 4 - 5 days to get to
eastern Oregon. BTW, I love Oregon. I've been there several times to fly fish the Deschutes River. When I was there in the 90s it was kinda like being in a big 1970s hippie place. That was pretty cool.

Kes, I have lived around or in Ocala since 1980. It is still relatively small. Marion County has grown south of Ocala, but City of Ocala still consistent. Not much different than Deland. Love both, especially Persimmon Hallow, IYKWIM!

    Hardcore.

Was driving a GFs car out at the time. I recall seeing nothing but buzzards going thru West Texas. Car died as I cruised into Mission Beach to meet here. She wasn't too happy. ;) Drove out in her Mercedes, came back a couple months later on a Trailways bus.

Drove to Ocala in 1990 from the East Bay of Calif, where I grew up before it got insanely crowded. I am now Gainesville. I was a lot younger then and made it in 3 days. Mainly because I didn't see anything worth stopping for on the way. I just remember driving from west Texas for about 24 hours to Tallacrappy as I could not make it to Ocala due to fatigue. I suppose I could have made it if I tried but I knew my family would not be up and awake anyway. Things I remember....... don't bring fruit across to Arizona, don't pick up hitchhiker's in striped suits in Arizona. Watch out for the truckers and tumbleweeds blasting by you at about 100mph in west Texas and fill up with fuel ANYTIME you can while crossing there. I also remember my truck overheating and then cooling down over the bridge at Mobile. But it was fantastic memories.
Dreams mixed with time will take you on a journey
