Don’t knock it until you try it (or two, three….). You definitely have to have the 151 topper for it to be proper.

Oxford (and surrounding areas) are step down versions of Tallahassee minus the school of clowning. Inbreeding and fatty foods have really done the number on the residents over the years.

Actually I have been to Oxford...
There's a lot to be said for it- and Ole Miss as a school.
It's beautiful and quaint and not crowded. A lot of people like it.

But like everything else- it depends what you want out of life and what your values are.

I hate big cities, I hate crowds, I hate traffic, and like 4 seasons. So yes I would pick it over a lot of places.
Including Chicago, NY, Seattle, LA, south beach, etc. But that's my values...

A far better question than what I like is what Kiffin likes.
And frankly, for all the people ragging on Seattle, Mississippi or any other place- to me the best place is where your family is.
And what's best for your family. And your future happiness.
i have no idea what's best for Kiffin, but I'm sure that will be a big part of his decision.

There is plenty to like about small towns, if you like small towns. I started in Ocala when it was a mid sized town. It got too big too fast. In DeLand now. Love the smaller town atmosphere. Small towns tend to be farm towns and folks like that speed.

I think it is hard to judge someone based off of coaching at USC. USC is a ghost of college football past, creaking around in the attic of the sport among the dusty relics of programs that used to be relevant, living on glories that are long past. Nobody is going to generate any real enthusiasm there, other than among the similarly irrelevant media and nobody is going to win there.

Personally, I would FAR prefer Oxford.

Thats what they are goid for. It's surprisingly good but just one at noon in the sun to get things started. Definitely doesnt repkaced a bourbon on the rocks and nobody drinks those one after the other. It's literally like drinking eight milkshakes.

Not surprised that you would comment on a place that you haven't been.

Funny, your posts usually remind me of THFSG. :). You fit right in.

Bushwhackers tear my stomach up as if I drank straight laxative. Just take the whiskey, put it in a clean glass and give it to me please.

Defense. I believe he had the #1 offensive success rate during his time at USC. He would be entertaining but no D won't win in the SEC either. Of course, if he got the right D coordinator he would probably create a juggernaut.

Yeah, but it's still the UM of Southern California and tends to be a top choice for kids from that state, which is right up there with FL and TX in terms of available talent. There's also lots of NIL money from all the jock sniffers in LA (again, like Miami). You can win there. You just need someone better than Reilly.

Sounds like it's basically a Mudslide with 151. Not exactly a "drinking" drink.

Meanwhile Venables has turned OU around by taking the Stoops approach. Build a foundation based on tough Defense. Hire an innovative and aggressive OC.

I prefer all my alcohol straight, bourbon neat with an orange slice, vodka and tequila on the rocks with a lime.
I'm a college town guy for sure, love the feal. G'ville is a relatively large college town. Athens (not on the list of cities in the link between 100K to 1 million pop probably because its older). old article: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-09-08/america-s-biggest-college-towns

G'ville with Sante Fee has a nice diversity of people and Culture and an airport. College students and professionals with the impact of Shands. and back in the day, Gatornationals used to be the biggest thing since sliced bread. With Paynes Prairie there, G'ville has variety -- Good people and a good city, and it's not like some rinky dinky college town - For example Tuscaloosa is great, but its tiny city compared to G'ville.

Personal story, my sons are at Bama, they didnt' care for ole miss compared to Tuscaloosa. Tuscaloosa is unique given how close kids live to campus. Gainesville has some serious sprawl of the student population, people live near the freaking mall! I lived across the street from PK young highschool, so we were in heaven, walk and bike to class with no issues. I had a doberman, and would come back from market street late night, and go throw the frisbee to her on PK youngs field.

And for the old timers -- who got to eat at Doug's Dairy twirl or Lewis' burger off Main? Gwen's bakery by the hippodrome, and of course the great Court house deli! they used to have a rye bread they got from publix that was insane!!

    OMG! I’ve been insulted!

Hey man, I’ve been all through small towns in the South. Lived in SC, NC, Georgia, Alabama, and Texas, and worked in Tennessee, Louisiana, and Mississippi. And of course Florida.

Also spent plenty of time on the West Coast for work including LA, SD, SF, and of course Seattle. So I may be having some fun at your expense, but it’s grounded in decades of experience.

Y’all are just easy to excite - sometimes it’s hard to resist. This place is for our entertainment, right?

Close but not as sweet if done right. I’ve never done more than 2 in one sitting — but they can definitely hit the spot early afternoon. The key is the 151 floater — it provides a bite and a buzz. Tacky Jacks in Gulf Shores used to make a great bushwacker — not too sweet.

Incomplete without the 151 on top.

I’m home with a sore throat today. All this alcohol talk is giving me license to have a nice Irish coffee and get to work. Nothing like it when you’re sick.
