You mean I don't predict every game right? I'd be richer than Elon Musk if I could do that. I can tell you don't actually watch football, because you'd understand people who do get picks wrong every week. Sort of comes with the territory.
lol I wasn’t aware I was unglued. You do you though buddy. Because our last in the SEC doesn’t show up in the win/loss rankings…which is strange because by your metrics we should be dead last there too.
Statistics! Colorado ranks 65th and 74th in total defense and total offense while playing a schedule ranked anywhere from the 50s to 70s depending on source yet they are a "well coached" team that plays "dominant defense!" I give the Mental gymnastics a 9.8
Napier has nearly done it, he’s got a team playing extremely hard and physical. He has turned the entire energy behind this team around, and for the first time in a long time looking like a team that is set to contend for a while. That being said none of that matters and it can all evaporate with a loss next week in Tally. It’s the most important game Napier has coached in his career up until the point. Florida handles business and Napier will have a tidal wave at his back headed into the offseason. Lose this game and he’s back to square one again, and the questions linger. All I can say is I’m extremely proud to be a Gator fan right now, and the level of intensity and grit I see this team playing with is something I haven’t seen Florida play since Urban Meyer coached this team. There is an edge and a competitive fight that is a unique deal that you can’t really explain unless you see it. I hope this continues and it rides on next week
That's not what I'm saying at all and obviously, you're not a sports analytics guy. What I am saying is that in order for us to win consistently in this conference (preferably 6 SEC wins or better), we will need bring those numbers up... a lot. The statistics still allow for anomaly wins here and there, but over the course of time, we are not going to average 4 wins per year in this league with a total offense and defense ranked that low. Frankly, we've already seen that play out with the previous two years. If you don't believe me, just run the stats for the conference in the past 3 years. You'll see a direct correlation between total offense/defense and conference wins. Now, no offense, but I really shouldn't have to explain this. I mean, it's not rocket science. The more yards you give up on defense, the more you have to make up on offense to overcome it. And if you don't, you're going to lose more often than you win.
There was no reason to rush DJ. Mertz is a capable QB and the last thing you want to do with Lagway is throw him to the wolves too soon, he’s good enough where you as a Coach just need to not screw him up, destroying his confidence early when you have time to build it isn’t smart. It worked out about as well as you could possibly ask for with DJ to start his career. Not all of that is owed to Billy because an injuries forced his hand. God smiled on Gators, and I think DJ has a chance to be the next big thing for Florida Football. Exciting time to be a fan.
Glad to know that Colorado, who had 1 winning season total in the 18 seasons prior to Deion's arrival, is your measuring stick for Florida. Still, I'd take 65th and 74th all day over 79th and 103rd. Love your excuses. What's your excuse for 16th out of 16 SEC teams? Do the other SEC teams not play tough games too? You can spin it all you want, but we are not going to hold our own in the SEC with 79th and 103rd in total offense/defense.
I think confusion with our offense comes from the type of scheme we run. Napier wants to run an offense that heavily favors a great defense. That’s why you hear him constantly talk about complimentary Football. It’s an offense predicated on a strong gap scheme run game with PA action shots built in off of it. It is not a fix all offense, or one that lends itself to a quick turnaround. Offenses like the one that Napier is running depend and lean on physicality up front and your ability to impose your will running the Football, everything in the offense is a direct branch from that. Napier inherited a complete disaster up front on the line of scrimmage particularly the offensive line. I think what you’re seeing right now is more of a function of those guys improving than anything else. Florida is starting to develop a consistent run game that can lean on people. You’re going to start seeing the Gators become more and more explosive offensively as a result. Doesn’t hurt that almost that entire group returns next year.
It's not that your picks are wrong. It's that they are negative, lacking any sense of optimism, and usually predicting UF to "show us just how bad we are" when they lose. We get it..... you're a blast at parties. Obviously.
I think you need to look beyond the stats and consider that in the last 5 weeks Florida has played Tennessee UGA Texas LSU Ole Miss And has taken all but Texas to the absolute wire and looked like the better team vs Tennessee and UGA You can talk about stats all you want but if the season started today from scratch what people have seen Florida do as of late some people might rank them top 5 in the nation.
Yes I think you do Tell me how to block power to an under front? If you can’t you probably shouldn’t be talking about scheme, and enjoy being a fan.
Lots of teams in this conference have tough schedules. We're 16 out of 16 in total defense. That's bad.
