She be getting dizzy rick ......
That is muy caliente!
Why is Billy G . On the hot seat? We just had the most WR's drafted in this years draft. And while being overshadowed by Pitts breakout play they were solid contributors all year.
How many wide receivers did you see creating 2-3 steps of separation from the time Billy G. left for LSU and he returned? IMO, half the problem with most of the Gator QB’s during the TOG and Mac eras was due to poor receiver coaching. All of a sudden Gonzo returns and receivers can magically create separation against DB’s as fast as them. He also demands his receivers block for each other - and they do that well.
I don't think he's on a hot seat. I was referencing it to the comments against Billy G, especially in the Mario Williams and Leary threads. I guess some people think he wasn't up to snuff in recruiting even though evidence shows otherwise.
Ah!...see what u did there lol
I see what you did there. Clever.
Eh.....you can chalk that up to scheme as well. I remember watching us in 2017 and Swain and Hammond where on the outside against teams #1 & 2 cornerbacks and no offense to them, they werent/aren't fast enough to do that. But yea it's the little things that Billy G does that gets overlooked
I had a bounty on his head had he not of gotten Xavier Henderson and ill freely admit that. But when you think about it, while he's missed on the "dynamic" perceived ELITE targets, we do have WR's that fit well scheme wise. Toney and Cope have shown they can get behind defenses, they just need to be consistent. Grimes HAS to put it ALL together, and it'll be nice of Fraziors or Hendo can contribute
IMO, route running adjustments, creating separation on your cut, downfield blocking and keeping the receiver room stocked with talented team players are not little things. They are the things you look for in a good receivers coach. And that’s not to mention the relationships he creates with his players off the field and even later in life. Urban got the credit but it was Billy G. who changed Dallas Baker from an underachieving wideout into the “Touchdown Maker”.
I hope you are right. I think our receivers will be awesome this year. Given we had the worst QB and WR situation in possibly the history of Florida football before Mullen got here ( save the miserable seasons before SOS got here), getting anyone who could catch and chew gum at the same time in their first recruiting cycle was a mini-miracle. Watching the Gators' offense under Old Yeller and Muschamp was worst than an elective root canal without anesthesia.
Nobody downplaying Billy G, im saying that unless you're specifically looking at the little nuances you mentioned, you're not going to see it. I'm also saying it's the scheme as well that got the best out of them too. That can't be overshadowed
Any confirmed 40 or shuttle times, VJ? WR class till now is slow across the board.
Nothing confirmed, tape don't lie tho
And we did have a few move on to Sundays under his watch that weren’t 5* guys. He got the most out of our receivers
Just saw the tape. Great frame, great hands and exceptional body control. If that's elite speed, those defenders must be elite as well. He's a great get but I'm still looking for a burner in this class.
Well it sint happening this class if you looking for a speed demon like Dubose, Harvin, Deonte my man.
