It is being reported that he is refusing to cooperate with the Auburn internal investigation into the basketball program. This is going to be fun.

He should be fired and not allowed to coach in the SEC again. He's a shady guy

Wondering if he's lied again, and trying to cover his tracks.

As long as you win, it's virtually impossible to be fired by Awbrin.

We just fired a coach for refusing to do the same, although it is coloring book U.

    Pearls days are numbered, imo.

Yep, his days are numbered. And there's a story out today that not only did Pitino know about the allegations into his staff and players, but was directly in the middle of it.

I have known about Pearl from the time he was an assistant at Iowa. Slimy all the way.

I actually thought he was a decent guy who just made a mistake. Yes, he "lied", but what he did at UT didn't really bother me - or at least didn't lead me to think he had some moral issue with cheating. I thought Auburn was a good place for him to reinstate his image, and as Auburn has been down in basketball for awhile I figure it was a chance for an SEC program to get out of the gutter.

But if he screwed up again, he should be banned for life from NCAA coaching. Guess he's just one of those guys that can't help himself.

Pffft. It's Auburn. I'm not worried about him getting in trouble.

One difficulty with being human in large societies is simply that it's just so profitable and easy to lie, cheat and outright steal without ever experiencing any meaningful consequences.

Almost everyone therefore succumbs to the temptation, but few are caught.

This doesn't mean such people are slimy, it merely means they were uncovered.

In societies that reward individual accomplishment, this is quite common.

Among those of us who feel that the Universe (or God for some) will ultimately inflict consequences for such actions, we don't concern ourselves much with very short-term consequences like being permanently banned by the NCAA. Adopt a Geological Time Perspective and realize that everything is ephemeral.

This perspective makes everything in life far easier to deal with.

This board is so much better with @themistocles Not being facetious at all, how many boards have posts starting with "One difficulty with being human in large societies..."? One of the nice things about bball season, higher quality forum posts.

Just ask him questions and see if he sweats. That is a SURE sign he is lying.

Honestly, what he was involved with pails in comparison to Roy Williams and the academic fraud.
