has pitched very well besides 1 outting the last few months of the season. Did it again today, too bad my Reds are mediocre again. But have loved his performance these last 10 starts or so. He should have a better record but 14-10 is not bad.
No run support. The other day he pitched 6 scoreless innings, but the Reds scored 0 runs and got beat. Brady got a no-decision. He's also lost games where he only gave up a run or 2. Reds still have an outside shot at the wild card. I'd like to see him get some playoff action
He has turned out to be a above average starter at the big-league level. I follow every start and he is good for 6 innings or so. Competes hard.
Good arms don’t grow on trees and I was surprised KC traded Singer last offseason. I know they needed offense and while I love ex-Gator Jonathan India, not sure the Royals received enough in return. Either way, good to see Singer put up solid numbers for the Reds.
I remember Brady as a freshman. Electric arm with huge armside motion on his two seamer. Relied too much on that special gift of a pitch. Sophomore year he took a little bit off of his two seamer for better control and started getting command of other pitches. Somebody coached him up well. Went from throwing to pitching. I knew then he was special. No surprise that he is doing well. He had the stuff and the smarts.
Brady’s legit. Always the ultimate competitor. Every time you see him prior to his start he’s got that “I want the ball” look in his eyes. I was always fond of saying of my players “The game don’t scare’em”. It definitely fits Brady.
I have told this Singer story a few times but I just love telling it. It was a Friday night (DUH!) and Brady was pitching at the Mac. Our dear friend Christine had the most amazing tickets that she shared with us and I was first row one seat off the aisle to the left of home plate. The best seat in the house. And when Christine couldn't attend we invited a scout down to sit in her seat in the first row on the aisle. Anyway Brady throws a gorgeous change for a strikeout and the scout sitting next to me says "It will be a long time before you see a better change-up at the collegiate level." I told him to come back tomorrow to see Kowar pitch. LOL. I got a very knowing nod after he looked in his book.
I watched some of Major League today. Say what you want about Charlie Sheen he really had the "gunslinger stare" down pat in the movie. You have to have that. Don't let the hitter think that he has the edge on you. Put fear in his head.
I think Kowar was always projected as having a higher ceiling but lower floor, no disrepect as he made it to the bigs. But Brady always seemed like more of a grinder and with all due respect he came from a place where (without baseball) (and if we're being honest) not a whole helluva lot of a future.
Brady came to UF with an electric two-seamer and learned how to pitch during his time here. Early on I heard one scout call him "Brady Slinger". Proved that scout wrong.
