Seems like he's been old since I've been alive.
Further proof only the good die young.

Rivalries mean little at times like this. Prayers for Bobby and his family.

While certainly not unexpected for someone living into their 90's, definitely a hard time for the family. Pray God will be merciful, whatever his will.

I hope his passing is peaceful and pain-free. I never liked him as a coach but that was due to the rivalry. My thoughts go to his family.

"I've always tried to serve God's purpose for my life, on and off the field, and I am prepared for what is to come," Bowden said in a statement. "My wife Ann and our family have been life's greatest blessing.

    "I am at peace."

Thoughts & prayers for him and the Bowden family during the difficult times ahead.

Never really understood the hatred some had for him (or anyone else for that matter) even in the midst of a heated rivalry; at the end of the day, football is just a stupid kids game. May the rest of his days on Earth be blessed.

I have never hated him either. He was one of the best all time, realized his talents weren't coaching X’s and O’s but as a CEO. I hope his days remaining are peaceful!

I never thought he was that great just had great fortune. I would say his fortunes have turned but he’s 91 which is a ripe old age so they really didn’t.

We should all be so lucky to live that long and have such a memorable time doing it.

When you are 91 years old, life is a terminal medical condition. Hope his final days are as pain free as possible.

I said nice things earlier. Now I am serious what is his terminal condition? How long are we talking about? I suspect we are talking days or maybe a week but I could easily be wrong.

Sorry to hear this but 91 is a good run. Hoping his final days are painless and he and his family finds peace.

For those who forgot....classy act when Marshall University lost it's football team.

During Bowden's first year as head coach at WVU, the football team of the state's other top-division school, Marshall University, were killed in a plane crash. He asked NCAA permission to wear Marshall jerseys and play Marshall's final game of the 1970 season against Ohio, but was denied. In memory of the victims of the crash, Mountaineers players put green crosses and the initials "MU" on their helmets. Bowden allowed Marshall's new head coach Jack Lengyel and his assistants access to game film and playbooks to acquaint themselves with the veer offense, a variation of the option offense which aids teams with weak offensive lines. Lengyel credits Bowden with helping the young Thundering Herd recover. Bowden reportedly became emotional while viewing the movie We Are Marshall, and has said that he was the original candidate for the Marshall head coaching job filled by crash victim Rick Tolley.

SOS, Bobby, and the inmates running the asylum in Miami. The 90's in Florida were as good as it ever got for college football, and it wouldn't have been the same without any of 'em. I will miss that old rascal when he's gone.

God bless him and his family. In reality, all of us are terminal. Bobby was blessed, and I wish him a peaceful and holy passing.
