That was during my first semester as a brand new UF prof. And Elvis Costello played the O'Dome around that time. I thought that Gainesville was a really cool place.

It is, but not as cool as my first impression.

But cool enough for KB, no doubt.

Only act I saw at the bandshell was Billy Squire in 87. That same fall was able to catch the hooters and Red Hot Chili Peppers at a party at sig ep. pretty cool as it was before they got big.

Shared some beers with a tall dude who went by ‘KB’ but drank too much to remember if that could have been Sr.

I heard about the Red Hot Chili Peppers playing a frat party. I knew of them and was surprised that they played a frat house. Did they perform some songs only wearing a tube sock as they would sometimes do back then?

    And was KB there?

Just wanting to keep this thread on topic.

I didn't go to the bandshell concerts that often, but I did for the B-52s. I liked them and have good friends that worked in the studio with them as engineers and session players. Actually my wife is the closer friend from high school, but I did attend their wedding and got to know the husband pretty well when he was recording The Silos at Florida Theater. Really nice people.

Eraserhead is without any doubt the worst movie I have ever seen. WOW had some wow costumes in that show! Even worse than Pink Flamingos (viewing in the Reitz Union), but Blackshear was not seen with Divine there either.

Blackshear was possibly seen (not yet verified) at the DEVO concert at the bandshell.

I agree. If he added more schools to visit that means he wasn't really enamored on joining the Gators. He's handlers are trying to up the ante. UF should move on and find somebody else. Don't let them use UF as a pawn to their schemes.

Just wanted to add I saw the pretenders and the alarm April 1984 in the o dome. I think I saw kB in the middle of the road taking a stand. He was precious.

Its perplexing for people to imply the feeling is KB will announce next week before he has been to UK. I get it his visits should be over by then but the perplexing part implies that he already knows where he is going if the family thinks he will announce next week. It just makes me say hhhmmm...

It's easy to be cynical. One could conclude that since he's not going to get an NBA payday, he and/or his family/handlers are trying to get what they can from potential suitors. I'm with you....if you're sold on UF as the place to be, why entertain programs with seemingly less to offer?

Any idea whether Kerry will visit Florida again (perhaps with parents) considering that his visit to us was an unofficial visit?

I got to see Blondie in Alligator Alley. Really good show. KB was there on an unofficial visit.

I saw the Beach Boys at the O'Dome in the 80's. Blackshear's parents were part of the opening act and it counted as an official visit. Rumor has it that Kerry's middle name might be O'Connell. Thus they had to make an unofficial visit this time around. The NCAA is still deciding if he can transfer.

RHCP at Sig Ep? Wow, that must have been epic in such a small venue. I saw Flock of Seagulls at a Phi Delt party (my brother was a phi delt from Canada, snuck me in). They were surprisingly good. I do remember seeing Lenny Kravitz and the Cult & Joan Jett in the bandshell in '89. Pretty good for free concerts
