I was under the impression the Feds had stopped chasing down marijuana possession several years ago under the Obama administration. Did that change with Trump?

Somehow this is going to merge into the "drug dealers are putting fentanyl into all of your kids Halloween candy" and "Disney is trying to capture their souls by releasing Hocus Pocus 2".

Don't ask me how. I cannot come up with such connections even in my most creative moments. But somehow it will

    Agree and agree.
This signals a little bit of change for Biden who is not a proponent of legalization- understandable given his son’s history with substances. Will be a different POTUS when legalization happens

I also thought so mostly - though maybe that's for smaller amounts? And what about banks or dealers? At the very least, if someone has a criminal record, maybe a pardon will help them get certain jobs? FTR, I support complete legalization of marijuana, and I also think if we're not going to enforce the law, we should go ahead and take it off the books.

Now remove MJ from schedule 1 and officially become the greatest president in American history (in the High Times rankings)

He could of done that day 1 of his administration. All about the midterms and votes. Typical politicians, breadcrumbs to keep the masses satisfied.

    MAGAT spin will be:

1). Biden weak on crime AGAIN!
    2) ER’s are being overwhelmed by pot overdoses!
    3) What about fentanyl in pot?

    The nonsense writes itself

I didn't think about pardoning and helping ones get jobs. If that's the case, then this is a worthwhile move and I support it.

Maybe. I could be wrong, but I think Republicans would rather focus on inflation and a few other issues than get into debating marijuana. Maybe that's why the administration is doing this now.

I agree, but its time for it to change. Whether you agree or not on the policy, it was delayed and the common folks get bent over as a result.

Are there really that many federal convictions for simple marijuana possession?

The GOP would rather sauté its genitals in butter than agree with Biden on anything.

If Biden came out against clubbing baby seals you’d have a fox special on the importance of baby seal pelts for small business owners and howls of outrage from the GOP elk.

That's what I was thinking as well, but another poster mentioned the pardons could be an expungement of sorts for ones who had been convicted in prior years. If that is the case, this is a nice move.

I assume he could do it at the state level? If he can and does so, I will give him credit for it.
