I think you're right. The picture comes in/out of focus, like the streams on a computer. The best wifi we can get in Duluth is Charter Spectrum - 100mbs. That should be plenty good. I might need to reset it. My wife was watching a program online too, so that's using some data. I wonder if our phones are drawing on the wifi when we're not using them? A question for someone with better technical expertise. :emoji_nerd:

Have you tested your connection? Google "spectrum speed test" and try it, see what it actually does.

Your phones should have little effect, even when you're using them.

And mine as well. It's not that cold there right now, not one of those -15 blasts?

Thanks! I'll test the connection. We frequently have to reset the wifi, so after the hoop game, I went down and did that. The picture is now crystal clear. Looks great!
Thanks also for the note about phones. :emoji_thumbsup:

I just ran it, but through wifi, not the ethernet cable. Not sure how accurate it is, but got 63.8 down / 11.3 up. That doesn't sound very good for a service that's supposed to be 100mps. :emoji_thinking: I'll try the test hard-wired and if it's not different, somebody at Charter might have some 'splainin to do. :emoji_smiling_imp:

It's always slower than you pay for. 63 down is good for 100 service, unfortunately. Testing with a laptop connected direct to the modem will almost certainly be faster. Though 63 is more than sufficient for what you're doing. My personal experience has been at least 10 per streaming device is good. Phones do effect it, but shouldn't be significant. All kinds of other things can cause congestion. The routers provided by the service provider aren't always the best either.

Glad the reset sped things up.

I miss the G'ville winter nights, not the summers.
Summer in Duluth is like Jan in Hogtown . . . nice

Well at least by not getting channel 9 you only miss a few worthless Notre Dame games.:D

You should try putting it up in the attic to get the antenna a little higher. You don't live far from me...I'm off Newberry Rd just W of 91st, but I am near the top of one of the hills but also have very large mature trees all around my house. I use a directional antenna and point it roughly SSW.

$7.99 is for the Hulu movie/program library....live TV is 39.99. If you subscribe to live TV the entire $7.99 lineup is included. (That post was months ago BTW...so it may have changed. I just pay the $39.99 to get all of it.

I live right near both of you guys. I had PS Vue two years ago and got a little tired of the buffering at what seemed the most inopportune moments. I went to Directv when they guaranteed a 2 year contract at $50 a month. That is about to run out, so this thread has been helpful. I did some research and see the only streaming service for my zip code that has all 4 networks is YouTube TV. I may give it a try (free trial), but I see someone in this thread said that they have had buffering issues with YTTV? I have internet service with Cox Comm. and have the tier below Gigablast. I may see how YTTV works and, at the very least, use that as leverage to see if Directv will committ to $50/month again (comes with HBO).

It actually works with the firestick. I have Playstation Vue on the firestick, and I can tell Alexa to skip 3 minutes...right past commercials on DVR'd programs.

Another tip: If you guys have lots of neighbors, their WiFi frequencies may be interfering with yours. Get a Wifi Analyzer app or program to figure it out. My Playstation Vue was buffering after months of working just fine. Found out neighbors installed that dang Ring camera all over their house. That stupid thing took up all three popular wifi frequencies. I had to set my wifi router to somewhere in between. Works fine now.

I have had cable and both dish services and now Roku

But I always have had an antenna on a twenty foot pole for locals

Could get Orlando and Tampa before the switch to digital and it’s shorter signal

You might get a free trial period with CBS All Access through a Fire Stick. I think I was offered that recently.

How far will your antenna receive good signal?
