What could be even more damaging to Bernie than what he said about Castro over 30 years ago are his much more recent statements on the Chavez/Maduro regime of Venezuela.
On Venezuela, Bernie Sanders has a lot more explaining to do
I tend to disagree, but I do think that's the way the Trump campaign will portray Sanders and they will probably be successful. I also think that this may be the first presidential campaign in which a significant percentage of the party's down ballot candidates separate themselves from the party's presidential nominee assuming it is Sanders. A significant number may also disavow parts of the party's platform which would include Medicare for All single payer health insurance, free tuition at 4-year public universities regardless of a student's ability to pay and across the board forgiveness of student loans, all which will be planks in the platform if Bernie is the nominee. .

    Trump backing the Chinese communists.

Trump praises Chinese leader, not Hong Kong protesters seeking democratic reforms
Trump congratulates China on 70 years of Communist Party rule

    So now we have two.

    How about three?

In Vietnam, Trump finds a 'socialist' country he likes

So yeah, we are up to 3 of the 5 explicitly Communist governments of the world in which Trump has praised the leaders.

People can despise Trump all they want but will vote for him anyway instead of Bernie.

I respect they guy, he’s stuck to his guns and has been saying the same things for decades. If he takes Super Tuesday, MSM and DNC will go full on assault on him.

No, Trump's not going to crush anybody. He may win but it will be pretty close again and he will likely lose the popular vote again.

Well, he won't beat him as bad as Dukakis...or was it Mondale?

Either way, the democrat will get 3 states--Cali, Mass, and Minnesota.

    The rest, to the POTUS.

(then again, Minnesota may actually be in play, unless its klobutch'r....hmmmm....).

I got it for local news but am wondering whether it's worth it anymore. Seems like it's no different than listening to CNN or Fox News.

The only good thing about Castro is that so many Cubans came to South Florida to escape the repression there. South Florida was so much better for it; the Cuban exiles and their descendants really helped make South Florida what it is today. Other than that, Castro stole the entire country. People who complain about people staying at Trump hotels cannot possibly defend Castro. At one time, he was one if the richest people on the world in a communist country. And that doesn’t even start with the murders. And no free elections. And no free speech. Disgusting.

This is from Politico.. hardly vast right-wing conspiracy stuff. The dude had a major boner for the Soviet Union and life there:

Sanders’ opponents, though, will likely find much in the tapes to call outlandish. And in a campaign season in which Democrats are concerned about nothing more than defeating President Donald Trump, there’s plenty of material that Democratic voters might worry the Republican Party could spin into a 30-second negative ad.

Sanders is seen living it up with Russians. There are, naturally, shrines to Lenin everywhere. In one scene, Sanders and his wife, as well as other couples, boogie to live Russian music. “I brought my special dancing shoes!” Sanders exclaims.

Later, he tells a Russian man, “I’m not very happy about this, but there are not many people in the state of Vermont who speak Russian. In fact, one of the things that we want to do is to see if we can develop a Russian studies program in our high school.”

At another point, one of Sanders’ hosts jokingly warns the delegation to not upset the KGB: “Those who don't behave move to Siberia from here."

    Bernie's mystery Soviet tapes revealed

For those defending Bernie's comments regarding Cuba as him praising one aspect of Cuba... not the authoritarianism of Cuba... I ask a couple of things...

    1. I realize nothing compares to Nazi Germany, but how would leftists react if Donald Trump led of every statement of Nazi Germany with "Hitler did some good things?" I'm pretty sure everyone would be losing their minds... and rightfully so... Praising the Castro regime should have a similar dirty feel to that... EDIT: Same with Putin, and Kim Jong Un... When Trump praises Putin and Kim Jong Un... he deserves the criticism he gets... I just think it's inaccurate to characterize Trump as though he's endorsing those ideologies because I don't see Trump as an ideologue... Bernie is...

    2. Do you believe that the economic turmoil in Cuba had everything to do with authoritarianism and the embargo, and nothing to do with Communism? It's all of the above... Communism doesn't work... and should have just as dirty of a connotation as Fascism... Yet Bernie Sanders only seems to condemn Authoritarianism... not Communism... I'd like to see him condemn Communism, but I don't see how that would be consistent with his record... He generally favors nationalizing industries, wealth redistribution, and has repeatedly paid lip service to communist regimes...

Bernie's been trying to qualify his comments, but he's currently characterizing his comments as though he said something else entirely in the 80s... Bernie explicitly expressed "excitement" over the revolution in Cuba... and insinuated that it was incorrect to suggest that Castro was the "worst guy in the world." Now he's pretending as though he never said "Castro wasn't that bad..." while qualifying his statements as, "Castro did some good things, Castro did some bad things." If he wants to save himself from the backlash... Just say the Cuban Revolution was horrible for the Cuban people... Fidel Castro was a monster... he committed countless human rights violations and destroyed the Cuban economy...

The reason I think he isn't doing that... assuming he's being smart... is because that opens himself up to questions as to how his philosophy differs from Castro... and the fact of the matter is... he's making a lot of the same promises Castro made...

I'm not saying Bernie Sanders is going to be a dictator like Castro... I'm not saying he's going to lock dissidents up and execute them... I am saying he can crush the American economy like Castro did to Cuba...

I saw these changes with my own eyes. Grew up in the 1960s. Friends for years with refugees. And their kids. This is something I know. There was so much literacy in Cuba, that it’s best and brightest escaped, mainly to South Florida. Some to New York.

You probably know a lot of people with similar stories to my family...

Bernie isn't even a socialist--he's a liar and a fraud, according to this supporter:

Bernie Sanders isn’t a democratic socialist. He is a social democrat

Technically, the author may be correct. However, "social democracy" creates problems that only socialism can fix (if you believe that Venezuela exists). When you've extracted every dollar you can out of the wealthy and the corporations, the economy collapses and the currency collapses under tremendous inflation. Yes, Venezuela exists and it can happen here, possibly with only $60 trillion in extra spending.
