I wonder how DeSantis will attack a fellow Republican, yet someone with a BS from Harvard and a PhD from Yale?

Really hoping he just flat out turns is down, but guessing his ascendancy towards a presidential run has been put on hold since he sided against Trump.

He's leaving the Senate, so it seems like a formality

Given DeSantis meddling with the Chancellors and University operations and need to control everything, don’t you imagine Sasse has already been approved by him

I think he's read the headwinds and decided to put his main skills of fundraising and being a sanctimonious bore to better use, the Senate is for football guys now

I want to see DeSantis run if only to drive Too Hot into a frenzy.

For UF president? You seem confused as to how that position works and what this thread is about. Thats ok.

Fundraising is pretty much the description of the position these days. Whether directly with donors or interacting with the state legislature. I don't know that much about him but he seems to be well-qualified for the little bit I do know, especially with that limited job description

Can provide a cryptic confirmation. Someone who would know confirmed that it is "done". Not going to use "done deal" unless Bob Stoops will be Provost

I will give him a chance, but DeSantis's cronies picking a Republican politician does not make me happy.

The faculty’s reaction will be really critical to how this goes. A republican, even a moderate one leading a fairly liberal university. And one who had a relatively limited academic background too. Though degrees from Harvard and Yale don’t hurt.
But talk about “out of left field”. What I hope, is that this pick was designed specially to navigate DeSantis and an increasingly conservative state and political role. He is a republican who can speak the language but isn’t a zealot like many others. I actually like him, but feel this is a pretty big gamble, this might be seen as selling out to politics.

This one seems like less of a pure “politician” than, for example, FSU hiring Thrasher.

Sasse is someone with an Ivy League doctoral degree and who has been a college professor and a university president before running for senate.

It’s an intriguing pick and not one I can say I saw coming.

Yay! Another white male that went to Pale and harturd. Shocking... He is not welcome here. No more Rs leading a liberal university. Fully expect our top 5 ranking to drop if he is made president.
