Definitely not your everyday IPA. It's a small run, and $10+ a bottle. Try it if you find one!
I am all over summer beers. Not much better than being outdoors with a good drink. This weekend we picked up Castle Danger's Summer Crush and Bell's Pooltime Ale. Neither are very strong but I think they are perfect for a nice day outside with a grill on.
The trick to really enjoying a DFH 120 is to work up to it by drinking one or two other double IPAs. Once years ago when I was working on the Goose Island account, we had a tasting at work with five or six IPAs, starting with singles, then doubles, then finishing with the 120. It tastes really awesome after you've warmed up your palette.
Used to love a cold Leffe in the summer.
I keep meaning to take a trip up to Two Harbors and check out Castle Danger. I assume they have a tap house. Have you visited?
Will have to try the Pooltime. Two-Hearted is one of my favorite beers.
Haven't been to Castle Danger but I think you are right that they do have a tap room. This is only the second beer of theirs I've tried.
Bells is so solid. Two hearted and Oberon are regulars for me. And if I can find it the occasional java stout is good too.
Heineken light & regular, Dos Equus light, Shiner's Bock
Good beer night

Cheap and easy gut swill...
In between a few irish car bombs tonight I had a surly Todd the Axe Man.
Just saw a couple of interesting offerings at Whole Foods yesterday, Founder's Doom, a Bourbon barrel aged DIPA, and Evil Twin's Molotov Cocktail. I think both checked in at 12% abv.
Not sure if Doom is a replacement but I recently read that Founder's recently announced the demise of Devil Dancer.
Stopped off at a bar and grabbed a Surly Furious before grilling out for father's day.
Furious is a pretty nice/strong brew. Was in Two Harbors today and found the Castle Danger brewery. Didn't have a chance to stop in, but will be sure to later this summer.
While in Omaha at the CWS all local Nebraska brews
Empyrean Third Stone Brown Ale - 5.30% ABV and 13 IBU
Infusion Vanilla Bean Blonde Ale - 4.80% ABV
Zipline Oatmeal Porter - 6.00% ABV and 36
The vanilla bean ale became my favorite of the trip. Love this brew. The other two were good also.
Empyrean will be at the All Pints North fest this year. I'll be sure to try their offerings.
just had my weekly Mich Ultra
