At the time, steroids were not really big. Creatine had really just come into play in collegiate athletics. The big thing about those LSU teams were the bats. Back then the bats were unregulated, drop 5, and had 2 3/4 barrels. Easton was far ahead of anyone else in terms of technology and LSU took advantage of it.

Yeh, and it is brutal too !! What did this d***head think was going to happen? I guarantee he will never say some shit like that to the LSU congregation. What we are putting on him is mild compared to making a statement like that regarding to that congregation.

I have been saying they need WOODEN BATS in college baseball. It is utterly ridiculous that 22 year men are hitting a baseball with an aluminum bat, something little leagues would use. I understand they have improved it since then, but it is still beyond ridiculous. Not to mention the speed of the ball coming off that as compared to wooden bats. Your pitchers have got to constantly keep that in the back of their minds on that mound. They are a sitting duck.

BBCORs are much closer to wood than what you think. You are thinking USSA bats

BBCORs, drop 3, and 2 5/8 barrels are really close to wood. Plus the cost would be outrageous for an athletic department to pay for woods.

What’s the difference in price? How long are the bats usually used?

A top of the line BBCOR runs $400; wood top of the line runs $200-$250, and that’s for gamers. Most likely you crack roughly 10-15 in a season. Plus your practice woods run about $100-$150.

    Damn.

When I was a kid I owned a Mickey Mantle Louisville Slugger that I wasn't strong enough to swing, a Nellie Fox "bottle" bat that was what most Little League kids should have swung and a Stan Musial. The Musial bat was the best.

I don't remember paying anything like that for a wooden bat even taking inflation into account.
