Me too. However it appears he's lost his control. I've seen Clete Hertzog's curveball. It is a major weapon if he can throw strikes. Need more weapons. Relive pitchers are not consistent at throwing strikes and appear to have average off speed at this point. That is a problem. Need the big lefty back and someone else to step up.

Good to be at the game when Gators set a team record for most HRs in a game (8) but... quality relief pitching, a vital aspect of an elite team, is still a work in progress. Purnell disappointed today, although he looked solid in scimmages. A finesse guy who can't throw strikes is a problem.
Fisher also looked good in scimmages and I think he might be a good option although a so-so outing today. Neely the most reliable but Ficc and several others need to get some innings in soon. Abner seems to have fallen in the depth chart- I saw him get up early yesterday and today but was not called on.
It's still early but need to sort out the relief roles soon.
Miami is the first real test and those guys can hit.
Look forward to seeing our weekend starters taking on a quality hitting team and hope our relief guys can come through.

I would settle for a relief pitcher from either side that threw from a three quarter arm slot with a lot of run on his two seam fastball, a lot of lift on his four seam fastball, and some cut on his cutter. Hardest to control the two seamer if you have a good one but can be controlled even with lots of armside motion.

Throw in an occasional change up would be a bonus.

It is actually a four pitch arsenel and not just fastball and change.

All around good performance, Purnell has to improve if he is going to be our 'primary' save guy

Good crowd, Great hitting day and great performance by Cags but my fav take away was the kids (especially the tiny ones who ran bases after the win more than one needed to be redirected to second base :)
enjoyed chatting with @gator1977 through the blow out

I'll just leave this bit of history (resent history) here for you, 74.

For the first time in eight years, the Gators had two players (Rivera and Caglianone) post multi-homer games in the same contest. JJ Schwarz (four) and Dalton Guthrie (two) last accomplished the feat vs. Stetson on April 7, 2015.
