I think the Gators will lose a few players - it’s inevitable as kids want to play and college is short. Sully has used the portal well to get Waldrep and Dale Thomas last year and BT the year before. But the Gators seem to experience some surprising losses too like Pogue and others like Guscette, Manning, and Armstrong just last year as I think those players could read the writing on the wall as far as PT. Who leaves this year? Who do you want: I want Ethan Petry from USCe. He’s from FL. Brother plays for St Leo. He can play RF and pitch. He killed us this year. Would love to have him in lineup behind Cags. Gator Collective get busy. Start a rumor
Your mention of Tim Manning made me curious. He played for Arizona State this year. 20 appearances, 9 starts, 1-4, 7.26 ERA, 63.1 IP, 66 K's, 21 BB's, .275 BA against.
Something happened to Tim Manning from Fr yr at UF to 2023. Bad Soph season, then not good Cape Cod league, then Az St. Poor guy lost it. Hope he gets it back for his sake.
If it were me, I'm targeting Austin Overn: https://www.ncaa.com/stats/baseball/d1/current/individual/490 Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
I don’t know of any reason why he would leave other than the ones I mentioned. Just wishing - maybe being close to home is an influence.
FAMU has 2 guys that make the first page of this list. We have none. Do we really have a chance tomorrow?
Hanchey tripled against us; we need to artfully choose when to hit the batter; giving up a triple without hitting any batters is like giving up layups in basketball without picking up any fouls. You've gotta let 'em know you're there. We hit 0 batters in that game; of course they're going to triple against us. Purnell's longest stretch of not hitting batters (5 games) unsurprisingly led to 2 triples being hit against him. Gotta play smart baseball. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
D1 Basball mentioned SS Drew Faurot of UCF, who's in the portal, as a fit for the Gators because he's from Florida, apparently just because he's from the state. No mention if he or the Gators are interested. Am I right that summer SEC transfers don't have to sit out, but January transfers do? Guscette left last summer and played, so that must be right.
He hit .252 as a freshman this year, 15 HR, 51 RBI, .510 slugging %, .341 OBP, 78 K's, 26 BB, ,917 fielding % with 17 errors.
Good power numbers I reckon. He struck out 22% more than our strikeout leader BT however, and had more than double Josh's errors (our leader in that category). Not encouraging.
Penn seems to be a popular shopping place... "Auburn will play a Penn team that has a talented roster led by starting pitcher Ryan Dromboski (7-2, 2.87 ERA) along with senior catcher Jackson Appel (.302, 3 HR) and first baseman Ben Miller (.328, 7 HR). Both Appel and Miller have already announced plans to transfer because of the lack of graduate programs at Penn. Appel will head to Texas A&M while Miller will transfer to Duke. They are two of five Penn players that have already announced transfer plans with others heading to Georgia, Virginia and Virginia Tech."
You were surprised Gussette and Armstrong left ? Thought they were long gone half way through the season
