I'm with you guys, but if Brady's in there it's for a good reason; coach isn't just drawing names out of a hat. It's less important to win now than it is to win than it is to win later. Sometimes you have to try and fail to know what you've got and what pieces you have to change around...or not (if it's something that can be worked through before you get to the game that count). Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
I agree that Brady’s in there for good reason, but he’s really in need of cleaning his defensive game up—the core of your defense always runs through the center of the field—C to SS to CF—it is vital to the team’s successes as well—
Brady was a high school SS. Catcher is not his preferred or best position. He would be a solid position player at any infield position , however catching and especially developing as a catcher with the staff that he has had to groom with is a daunting task . 95 plus with sharp break and lots of movement is tough on seasoned catchers. I personally think it will take more than this year for Brady to be what we have come to expect from our catchers . Sully will not let this continue for weekend games for to much longer . He is a solid hitter , but that may suffer a bit with defensive pressure mounting . We may see a lot of shuffling back there until Sully sees what he likes at real game speed on a consistent basis.
My biggest take away from the game was how many runners we stranded. Hard to win on any road game with that much left on base. The season is young. I'm not going to get overly excited yet. Let's see how this group responds. GO GATORS!!
Sully has some solid choices, it may come down to hitting between Brady & Calilao with one being the designated pinch hitter the other at first
Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS[/QUOTE] Sounds like the guys sitting behind me at the game last night. Between them and the constant traffic in front of me not a good night. Did enjoy the chairbacks however.
I like Smith at first about as much as I like him at 3rd. He has the same issue keeping the ball in front of him. Cali has been solid there. If he has to go to the field, I prefer him at 3rd.
The Gators still have not loaded last night's stats into the yearly cumulative stats on the website. Maybe they don't want to see them until after tonight. Only 2 players were batting above .250 but after last night we might have half the team batting the interstate. Hope the bats show up tonight.
understood, I picked first because he played there and a tad at second in a few of the scrimmages, smith, greenfield, miozzi and maybe even girand were part of the catcher's drills and played behind the plate as well, miozzi being junior recruited by Sully means he saw something either a potential need or an upgrade, hard for me to say without the analytics on fielding and batting since fall ball, we will see who starts tonight, I'm going to try to get by practice tomorrow, sometime you can pick up a drift just watching with your ears open
I’ve coached this game for 40 years and I don’t care if he hits a buck and a quarter. He must defend first!!
I think that is Sully's philosophy especially when it come to SS & Center, same for the guy wearing the tools of ignorance
Yea he played first a lot last year too, putting a more defensively sound Bell on the bench. For whatever reason, he did look good at third the few times he played there last year. I just hate giving free passes and he gets a whole lot more opportunities to give them behind the plate and at first, lol. I’m sorry Brady, I still love you man.
Now the stats page is even more strange. 2019 Baseball Cumulative Statistics - Florida Gators They added the UNF game stats but still have nothing showing for the USF game.
