While we are on the home or away question, is it already decided if Wake Forest the #1 seed makes the finals they will automatically start as the home team in Game 1 or does the home or away rules that are affecting the games now also continue into the final series the whole time they are in Omaha?
I'm feeling quite ill tonight. I may not be able to go to the office again. Woe is me LOL. We do need some base running instruction. There is no need to get a half base lead from second on a ball you think is going to be out of the park!!! 3 possibilities - Home Run - you score. Over their head - you score. Caught you've got to go back to tag and then run????? Why not stay on the bag? Head scratcher.
Nick wrote for a long time here at GC, so I think he assumed this was an obvious joke. But it has been a couple years now maybe, so not everyone would know that today.
I think this game will finally tell if the Gators can still hit homeruns with the wind blowing in for the entire game. Since it starts at 2 the wind will probably not die down late like many of the evening games. Plus we will see if Sully has any interest to start manufacturing more than 1 or 2 runs if needed. Many on here have said you go with what got you here and a few still insist small ball is a must. I believe the best teams can do both when needed. But we don't fit into that mold. LSU tried bunting several times today and had trouble but in the end still hit one out. Sully has learned this team struggles with the bunt but can steal bases better than most. But that means we have to get the right base runners on before taking advantage. Either way it will be interesting to see how Sully plays it. I do know it will get very boring if our guys keep swinging for the fences and not going with the pitches. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.
They figured out how to win in our park with the wind blowing in HARD. Hopefully they figure it out tomorrow too.
Concerning the Home Runs : we damn sure will try ! They will hit beautifully trajectory high in the sky . As the ball is caught 5 feet from the warning track the mumble “ damn I thought I got it all” Yet the flag is erect towards home plate. Yeah we are gonna try
Come on now y’all—hitting is not as hard as pitching—hitting, middle in it’s ok to pull it—middle away drive it oppo. With pitching-pitchers have to throw strikes with 4 or so different pitches….. I know this to be true because @wingtee ‘splained it to me one time…….
He's a good one. One of the best people covering the Gators. I won't pay for sports news but if I did, I'd pay for his stuff.
TCU and LSU pitching choices today will be interesting. I'm guessing TCU brings back their #1 on 5 days rest since he only threw 80+ on Friday. LSU has a harder decision since Skenes threw 123 and would only be 4 days rest. IF TCU forced another game they would likely then be Johnny Wholestaff vs Sproat on 6 days rest....that would likely mean no Sproat in a final series unless Monday relief. Winning today sure would be big
1. It's going to be hot, but the humidity will be in the 30s. It shouldn't be too uncomfortable. 2. As the away team, which uniform are we expecting to wear? We were blue tops the other day. 3. Will TCU finally get out of those ugly blue batting practice jerseys? Their coach says it is up to the players now. 4. They ain't beating the Gators twice so don't let them beat us today. Play loose and beat the crap out of them. Do to them what they did to the piggies.
I was thinking about this last night. If LSU can pull off the win tonight, they would surely use up Skenes tomorrow giving us a major advantage in the finals should they make it, and assuming we win today.
LSU HR last night was Crews sitting back on a ball and hitting a line shot oppo... Wind tends to blow harder in mid-late afternoon... high arcing shots that look promising are unlikely to be out of the park and simply die at or short of the warning track. Of course if one of our sluggers with exit velo above 110 gets a hold of one....
