Did Thomas misplay the ball hit at him last night or was it a hit all the way?

My quick impression was he did not take a direct route to the ball, nor did it look like he ever got up to full speed. Basically he got fooled by the ball flight. Hard to say if he would have got there but I do remember saying to myself a healthy Langford would have got that ball.

I just saw a little snippet video of the play and it looked like he misplayed it. Even being a regular outfielder a ball hit right at you is tough. I can remember shagging balls out there during BP and the balls right at you just made uou freeze….I assume it gets a little easier the more you play out there. Give me SS all day every day lol.
I did have to play outfield during one game, during summer ball, when I took a bad hop liner hit at me at short that found my nose. Out there holding an ice pack on my broken nose lol

I know that this is going to be unpopular but I am pretty used to saying what’s on my mind—

Speaking of Wyatt Langford-there’s no one here more ready to see him back in the lineup than me. That said—as truthful as I can be the live action we saw of WL on the field last night “shagging fly balls” was a far cry from anyone close to ready to be coming back to the lineup. To say he was moving around very gingerly would be an understatement IMHO.

I hope he is truly healthy when he comes back.

You read my mind ‘74. I would rather be without him for a few weeks than rush him back and have this be a lingering issue throughout the season.

I'm not sure how swinging a bat impacts Langford's type of injury as compared to running around in right field, but would DH be an option until he's completely 100%? I agree that he shouldn't get back in the lineup at all until the doctors have cleared him with little to no chance of re-injury. The problem with any injury is that people tend to overcompensate for a body weakness and that can lead to an injury somewhere else.

Hitting is so much in your core, I’d think with this type of injury, that would be worse than running around. I know generally for other surgeries in that area, any core exercises or even moderate lifting are off limits for a good while.

I think that if he limits himself to spraying the ball around instead of looking to go yard he might be fine. But once on base he should be lifted for a pinch runner.

I’d rather wait until we can send him back out and tell him to do what he does.

Sully has him at DH today and he's not looked good. Maybe just getting used to live pitching. We'll see if he plays in Game 2.
